As someone who has experienced the magical luxury of Japanese-made toilet seats, I say, go for it, Sliver. This is worth every penny.

I bought one of those $50 dollar add-on toilet seat bidets and it's great. I feel like a caveman whenever I use a regular toilet.

I was skeptical about getting a cold water one but really, it's completely unnoticeable; even the wife didn't complain about it. I'm sure the warm water is nice but I wouldn't make it a must-have feature.

Man, I love Sliver threads. Awesome.

On topic, someone once proposed a thought experiment; wipe some #### on your forearm. How are you going to get it off? Just wipe it with a form of paper or soap and water? That has always made a lot of sense to me in the pro-bidet category.

I recommend most people just purchase something like this:

https://bidetking.com/brondell-clean...t-sprayer.html

Can be found for around $40 on Amazon.
Easy to install yourself.
It is easier to move the handle around so water gets everywhere than to move your body around.
Can clean the toilet bowl as well.
Saves on TP as you just need a bit to pat dry

Wouldn’t the poop rain down on your hand if you sprayed that thing under your ass?

Sweet baby Jesus no. Automate it or don’t do it at all.

If it doesn’t clean for you, puff out a nice fresh scent, and play music to drown out your bathroom noises, what’s the point of a bidet at all?

Wow I miss Japan.

Totally this.

My years in Asia have left me disgusted by Western paper-only butt-cleaning practices. The Japanese bidets are fancy and all, but there's nothing that beats the bum-gun for ease-of-use and that I'm-on-cam-tonight clean feeling.

Question as a person who has never used a bidet in his life, but as Titan mentioned, it only makes hygienic sense.

Where does the water go? Whether the "bum gun" or a smaller stream bidet, does it not splash everywhere?

Follow up, what are you drying with? Toilet paper is the worse thing to dry skin with, so is there a special bidet "butt towel" to go along with my hand and shower towels?

The ones I'm looking at have a warm air dryer that blows at your butt.

My parents have one of those crazy japanese toilets. The thing has like 20 buttons on it. Everything from warmth settings, distance, water effects (swivel, constant stream, pulse, etc) and sound settings.

Not gonna lie, it's pretty darn cool.

$1100 for a toilet seat. I would have an instantaneous "Ive made it in life" feeling if I was ever able to click on the buy now button for this thing.

Default Toilet Seat Bidet

We have a bidet in our master bathroom and it’s life changing. You can stay at hotels, like the Ritz in MTL, that have bidets if you want to try one prior to buying one - I haven’t seen them in many North American hotels otherwise.

Hugely recommend them, such a better way to poop.

Once you've done bidet you can't ever go back. Without a bidet you're literally just spreading #### around your bum. With a budget you're cleaning it all off and then using toilet paper to dry off.

The Washlet's are one of the best things about living in Japan.
I am surprised that they are not a standard item in the rest of the developed world. I would recommend them - don't think the dryer is necessary but if it is not a big cost increase go for it. I say get one.
The other great thing in Japan is the never-ending hot shower and re-heatable bath thanks to the Tankless water heaters.

My bidet arrived today and I can't wait to go home and hook it up. I ended up going with a fairly basic one that only hooks up to the cold water just to test out the concept before going all in on a deluxe heated seat with warm water reservoir and oscillating nozzles. This one does have the behind cleaner and a jet especially for women.

If you don't already, follow my stream on twitch for live initial reactions.
