I’m kind of like Lindholm + Hanifin for Hamilton but also am not in love with it and it gives me some anxiety.

Probably means it’s actually a fair trade.

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin- Hamonic
Kulak/Stone/Andersson /Kylington / Valimaki

I could live with that d-core.

Zykov is a real interesting player out of Carolina too. Unsure they'd give him up as well as he broke out in a big way last year. At least I thin he did. Had a Big 30+ goal season in the AHL and when up with Carolina had a respectable 3g 4a in 10 gp with the big club.

Again, not trying to be pessimistic, I just don't know much about him and haven't really watched him play.
If you go by his draft year scouting reports, he has significant offensive upside. But considering we are 5 years away from that it is probably less likely he reaches them.

Almost everyone agrees that he has a very solid 2 way game. He is also capable of playing RW.

Lindholm was drafted 5th and Monahan was drafted 6th, so obviously he is better than Monahan.

It doesn't make sense to add a #2C while we're paying Backlund $5M.

Backlund + Brodie + Whatevs for Linholm and Hanafin.

C Depth
Monahan
Lindholm
Jankowski
[Call Up]

D Depth
Giordano
Hamilton
Hanafin
Hamonic
Stone
Valimaki

Plus, like 18 extra money trucks we can park outside Tavares' house at 12:01AM July 1st.

Lindholm can play RW... though his career high in goals leaves a lot to be desired when we're looking to add scoring.

Lindholm would probably be playing rw on the first line.

Hamilton for Hanifin+Lindholm+Zykov/Nic Roy/Kuokkanen could actually end up benefitting the Flames in the long run, which is really hard to say about any potential Hamilton deal

The worry is that Lindholm actually tops out as a 45 point guy, Hanifin doesn't keep developing, and the prospect busts, but that would be an enticing package. Maybe add a little from the Flames side but I wouldn't do anything major.

Exactly. But if we want some versatility in lieu of injuries or whatever. Lindholm can fill any one of 6 spots in the lineup. That has to count for something.
Which is an added bonus in finding chemistry with the right players.

Lindholm would be a great fit. Can play rw on first line and if any of our top 3 centres go down to injury , he could hold his own on any line replacing them. Oh boy I want!!

Tried to be inspired by Hanifin highlights and he looks pretty pedestrian. Am I missing something? I mean he looked decent enough, but he looks like any number of second liners who pot some goals and put up decent points.

If we're trading Hamilton I want to get a surefire, scoring star. Not a lesser D-man and decent forward.

The old "who ever gets the best player wins the deal" scenario. I'm not sure how true it actually is but unlike many on here I hate the idea of separating a star asset into two lesser assets.

Something id be all over would be

Hanifin, Lindholm and Zykov/McGinn for Hamilton, Brouwer and Klimchuk

They sent Hanifin to the All Star game last year in part because he never gives up on any play. Even though there better statistical players on the team. If a trade is Hanifin/Lindholm, Hanifin is the headliner.

Also, Skinner and Peters don't seem to mix. Doubt he would be part of any trade between the two clubs.

If you were to trade Hamilton for this package, that really does balance out the righty/lefty defense issue really well.

If lindholm is added that would mean jankowsi is moved or even monohan. Cant have jankowski as #4 center. A waste.

The Canes aren't taking Brouwer in any trade.

Wait, what? We would we get someone not as good as Monahan while trying to bolster our forward group.....and then move on from Monahan?

Why is having good/young developing players on the 4th line a waste? Most winning teams have young players there.

Especially when the 5v5 minutes on good teams are generally spread across the lines (relatively) equally, with special teams being where the better players play their extra minutes.

The Flames need good players on the 4th line, because good teams have good players on the 4th line.

I firmly believe Hamilton's career trajectory is "perennial Norris-candidate and guy who wins championships."

That would be a nice acquisition. Curious what we’d give up for him to grab him though. Don’t really think his value is too high with a career high of 45 points.

I’d love a forward group of:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Bennett - Jankowski - Lindholm
Ferland - Backlund - Frolik
Mangiapane - Shore - Lazar
Klimchuk/Brouwer
