If Treliving's going to trade Hamonic, he'll have to accept less than what he paid (barring finding a really desperate or foolish GM). Hamonic has less term left on his deal than he did a year ago.

Well, it sounds to me like the Flames have not decided if they stay with the current top 4 or consider moving some of the defensive prospects instead, it probably depends on the offer.

Kerr: So, Craig, what's happening with the Flames on draft weekend.
Craig: Tre's alway talking to people but nothing has materialized. We're making HUGE TRADES! ALL THE PLAYERS. We're getting them. Hamilton could be traded to Carolina. Fox won't be traded, unless we trade him! Hamonic could be available for the right price! C'mon down GMs, get your defensemen here!

Yeah the responses pretty clearly show that this is not remotely serious.

I don't remember a thread where I've agreed with this many opposing positions.

No rumors of Brodie so that’s who’s actually being traded.

Must be that Tavares said he’ll sign with the Islanders if Lou brings back Hamonic, and Tre knows, so he wants all his picks back. Just a one year trial period and both teams like things as they were.
Where do I say /green text?

I wouldn't do this deal for Hamilton, obviously, but I don't hate the deal for Hamonic.
Thoughts?

Hamonic for Brown + 2nd + something else does make sense to me, but Nielson isn't really that piece. Maybe Hamonic + Frolik for Brown + 2nd + Kapanen? That would really balance our forward group out as Brown can replace Frolik as a swiss army knife beast (also a RHS who could play PP2) and Kapanen can augment the Bennett line as well as the first power play.

Interesting comments from Derek Wills, who as the team's PBP guy, is not one to engage in idle speculation. Pundits engage in that.

What? When Wills speculates he is the least reliable of anyone connected with the Flames.
Bless him for trying, but he does not seem connected at all when it come to the teams' speculated or rumored moves.

Hamonic might be motivated to move to Winnipeg, where's he's even closer to his extended family. That was the primary reason that he requested a trade out of NY to a western Canadian team.
Not sure if the Jets are a good trading partner, though.

I don't doubt that. He should stick to bingo calling.

He's less connected than Maher who was never connected when it came to rumors.

That tweet makes no sense because the dmen are all so different (well, mostly Hamilton). If Toronto is trying to fill a need, the options would look much more similar.

The Leafs were the other team in on Hamonic this time last year so their interest in him wouldn't be surprising.

Sure but Hamilton? If they want a defensive d-man because of Gardner nightmares, sure Hamonic or Tanev make sense. But not Hamilton, and not at that price.
