Yeah, Thor didn't work for me Either. It jumped the shark. Is there such a thing as too much Taiko Waititi impressed on a film? Because I think that's what happened here with love and thunder.
Needed much much more Gor and waaay less Greek mythology. Thor definitely need a much darker contrast to the campy things they were trying to do.
In fairness, this was the least Taika Waititi movie directed by Taika Waititi I may have ever seen. Typically, his style is quirky, charming, heartfelt, and understated.
Thor L&T was just goofy.

I'm starting to come around and appreciate that Marvel is experimenting with the newest phase. However, I do feel like the films so far were imagined as larger epics that were edited down to their own detriment. Thor and Dr. Strange moved at a blistering pace in their first acts which undercut the rest of the films, but they clearly went full corn and horror, respectively.
Dr. Strange and Moon Knight went dark, Thor and She-Hulk have gone light, and the rest have landed somewhere in the middle depending on the hero(es).
I liked Thor as soon as I figured out what it wanted to be, although it was a pretty average movie at best.
She-Hulk has been an absolute delight. Tatiana Maslaney was the perfect choice for the role, even if the CGI is a bit distracting.
I'm sort of on board with this as well.
Obviously I think Ragnarok was the better film and I do wonder if Disney is interfering with these movies more and more, I really enjoyed Love and Thunder because I found it irreverent.
Its a big, loud, dumb and funny popcorn movie. It is exactly what it tells you it is.
And if you were expecting something else? I dont know why.

Lazy writing, lazier acting, very clearly rushed/poor effects quality.
Junk.
Thank god more people are with me on this one. I was shocked and disgusted to see people praise this awful piece of #### when it first came out. The whole movie was like an unfunny parody movie from the 2000s. Felt like I was taking crazy pills.
I’m not kidding when I saw it’s the worst marvel movie ever made. And I don’t mean Marvel Studios, I mean any marvel property ever. Well, maybe since the 90s captain America movie anyways.
Can we all at least agree that Russell Crowe as Zeus was pretty outstanding?
I thought he was perfect.
Whereas Chris Hemsworth was clearly tasked to arrive on set in phenomenal shape, Russel Crowe appeared to have been tasked to consume an entire Arby's.

It's funny how MCU movies have become so much more polarizing than they used to be. Personally I really liked new Thor, and I know I'm not alone in thinking it was excellent in it's own way (and while some things are a matter of taste, I think calling the writing or acting lazy is really unfair), but a lot of people really hate it too.
To me it kind of shows that Marvel is experimenting more and taking more risks than they used to.
Personally I've really enjoyed phase four as a whole, even if its been very uneven. It's weird at times and not all the same, and interesting. High highs and low lows, sometimes even within one movie. (Shang-Chi is especially like that.)
I expect them to get back to doing more of the "classical" stuff, but I don't mind that things are a bit messy for a while.

One about the MCU I think is, it needs more Tony Stark. But we aren't getting that back any time soon if ever. Although they do have that ace up their sleeve with the multiverse opened.
Overall I like most of the MCU stuff. But it also feels like they're force feeding all the 2nd tier characters into the prime roles.
I do like SheHulk though, she's going to make a sick lead avenger.

What about the new Thor was experimental? It was entirely derivative and, yes, lazy. Nothing about it was even remotely original.
I feel like they only had one plot idea between Thor 4 and Dr Strange 2, and said we'll make the same plot twice once as a horror film once as a campy buddy comedy to keep the Marvel films going.
Spoiler!
Single parent loses their child(ren) and goes berserk, getting taken over by an evil magical object. Goes on complicated quest to get their child(ren) back, leaving devastation in their wake. Heroes are overpowered, but the day is saved at the last minute by appealing to the big bad's love of their child(ren), and they have a dramatic change of heart after they've already otherwise won.
The only thing differentiating those descriptions is that Wanda had 2 kids so I had to put (ren).

This seems overblown - I watched it last night and enjoyed it. I'm not sure how Eternals, Black Widow, Shang Chi are sooo much better? I didn't really like any of those three, but found Thor 4 pretty entertaining.
