isnt it still a loss of revenue as they're missing out on concessions and merchandise sales?

And the big concerts suffered from poor attendance relative to expectations? I wouldn’t count the WHL as a big event.

So basically the greedy old bastards tours.

It is not only Regina that has reduced interest in those types of acts.

The Stones, McCartney and GnR sold well from my recollection but that’s no surprise considering the demographic. Some people I know went to GnR for dirt cheap buying on StubHub though.

The WHL outdoor was originally pegged as a big event before low ticket sales moved the games to the Brandt Centre.

I'm hoping to go to this one seeing as it's about the same distance from here to Regina as it is Winnipeg. I wanted to go to the one in Calgary but I already had a trip to Toronto planned for UFC 129 and couldn't afford to go to both.

But that's the thing - They weren't a big event, they were just mistakenly marketed and billed as one. Two highflying, conference topping western Canadian teams in the best hockey league in the world is a big event and will sell well.

Also, you're looking too local and thinking these are Regina problems when speaking to those concerts. Guns N Roses was purposely sold the way it was and pretty much every stadium across North America had a similar experience.

Their strategy was to gouge as many fans as possible into $250-$500 tickets and then just let the secondary market bring in fans for cheap to fill out the stadium once those tickets go unsold by scalpers.

Similar but less obvious tactics are used by pretty much all the aging acts trying to rake in money, most of which are the ones you mentioned. There's a reason they all make these treks to the middle of nowhere, it's because they're nailing evry single market for maximum profit as they close in on retirement and there's a lot of new/useful stadiums in western Canada.

It's not because these acts are dying to play in Regina and Winnipeg.

Stones in Saskatchewan was a big deal beyond the marketing spin. The first show sold out in minutes and then they added a second show. The second show is what cratered the secondary market but both sold out.

Saskatchewan attends one off events because it doesn’t get too many. This will sell out quickly in Regina.

I suspect if you opened it up to Riders / Flames / Jets season ticket holders all tickets would be sold before the public could buy any.

This is going to be epic. 10 straight hours of behind the scenes of both teams dreading and bitching about going to Regina!

Makes sense. I'm sure the Cheveldayoff's had a chat over turkey and got this all sorted out.

I'm assuming they haven't expanded for any events yet to look at?

New Mosaic hasn't expanded seating for any events yet. Will be interesting to see it with temp seating added, a preview of what will be in store for the 2021 Grey Cup.

Bettman even said as much, two strong competitive teams. Bar set too high for the Oilers.

If the Grey Cup taught me anything, for anyone even thinking of possibly going to the game BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOMS NOW! Regina is known for not having nearly enough rooms to handle big events.
