I'm not all that excited about this.. But I'm probably just being selfish not wanting the Flames to be jet lagged and even LESS ready to go for the season.

I think it is kind of funny that the Oilers will be in Sweden. Like the league is assuming they will get Dahlin.

I was thinking the same thing. Thanks but no thanks.
Like the Flames need to find a way to have even worse starts to the regular season. Thats the one thing I think they've got a handle on.

I guess it would be pretty cool to get the Flames some international exposure. Will this cost us a home game though?

Why another All Star game in San Jose again? I would've thought they'd try and market the hell out of Vegas and put an ASG there as soon as possible.

Yeah, that's odd. It's been more than 20 years since San Jose hosted, but there are other cities you'd think would be ahead of them still.
Vegas, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Edmonton all have newer arenas which haven't hosted the ASG yet.
If they really want it out west, Anaheim and Arizona have also never hosted.

I like the Bruins. I like the Flames. I've always wanted to go to China. This could be interesting....time to keep an eye on YYC Deals!
Also, Spencer Foo is Canadian but with Chinese heritage, right? Would he have a shot to be playing in this rumoured game?

I think that the All-Star game isn't really about anything other than the NHL being able to wine-and-dine the corporate sponsors. It doesn't really work for them to say "invest with us and we will give you an all expenses paid All-Star weekend in... Edmonton".
I would think that there are realistically only 19 or 20 cities that will ever see All-Star games again.
It's just like playing regular season games in other countries. The NHL doesn't give a toss about the fans, only about making money.

This gets thumbs up from me. Will be cool watching Flames play in China and hopefully the players realize its a special opportunity and get up for the game.
Not looking forward to some using this as an excuse if Flames get off to slow start. What was it this year? The burden of integrating a new #4 defenseman into the lineup?

Can't wait. This better be in Shanghai. I would consider a trip up to Beijing for this too, but I hope it's Shanghai again.

I hope this means there will be one less pre-season game STHs have to shell out for next season.

Oh no....it'll be the same number but a couple just got way, way more expensive! Good luck selling those...
