I was really disappointed in Backlund last season, especially near the end. I was not convinced that this was a guy we needed to have on our team to take the next step. But I am happy to be very wrong. He will never put up crazy point totals but damn is he effective and does so many things right. Happy to have #11 on the Flames.

One good thing about Gamecentre is being able to rewatch the games afterward. I can't stop watching that Monahan goal, simply incredible by both he and Chucky. I love this team!

Reading and seeing some of the media coverage, it feels like what they really want is for other teams just watch McDavid play around everyone in adulation and bow to his glory, pretty much like if it was in the presence of Jesus himself. It’s bad enough when it comes from Edmonton payroll media, but when some of the SN commentators chime in, it becomes cringeworthy. I watched Hitchcock on After Hours and he actually rejected a softball lead from Debrusk suggesting it. Hitch said: “We expect Calgary to treat McDavid hard, just as they expect us to treat Gaudreau. That’s what you get as the most dangerous player on the team.” I kinda like that. I thought Debrusk was upset about that response. And Go Flames Go chants in the back weren’t helpful either ... LOL

As an aside, it would be interesting to see an ATL done on this site after a big loss.
Some people seem to only be happy if they’re miserable. They just want to be right about their pet peeves or their “I told you so’s”. How many times have we seen people post doom and gloom in GTs and then the Flames make a comeback and those posters go silent and disappear out of the PGTs. (Of course in our rare losses those posters are in the PGT) You think with the season we’re having (heck even earlier on when the flames were just solidly good, aka mid December) that people would be happy about the year the team is having. But nope just gotta be negative.

Any clips of what happened when McDavid got cut? The angle I saw on the TV had the incident covered by two other players.

Loved Hathaway giving him the business.

Too many (select) people talk like their opinion is fact. I rarely put any stock in most of those reactionary posts, or jaded opinions. Many things said about Brodie and even Bennett were way over the top. Things that are toxic, that you would never say to that persons face.

Sometimes it is just trolls and then some people jumping on the bandwagon. A lot of the reactionary posters wouldn't even talk like that in front on mom and dad without being asked to grow up! That said winning cures a lot of things but those trolling are still pretty easy to spot!

Rewatching the replays of Monahan's goal, it's funny how the arena was playing Cee-Lo Green's "F-You" when Mony was celebrating his goal.

Looks like the Flames even got under the arena staffs skin. A bit of a classless move by the arena though, E=NG.

Classless may be the most overused term around hockey forums

Another 2 pts for the Flames and number 13 so seeing how the Flames and Johnny keep racking the points (69 vs 73), I was wondering which will end up with the most points at the end of the season?

I say they both end up with the same total!

Yeah the corner camera replay doesn't show much.

Here's the live feed, then a different angle that shows part of the scrum:

Lol at the comments in the ATL about Gulutzan. He probably gameplanned the Oilers PP around exploiting Brouwer and left-side Brodie and he’s still wondering why it didn’t work.

Best part about the four minute kill was Gio coming back and scoring the 2-0 goal. You know he felt bad for that play and was fired up to be able to make up for it.

I like how McDavis punches Hathaway to the back of the head first but everyone wants to make a big deal out of Hathaway turning around and giving it back

Because they have a different opinion than you they get banned? Discussion forums are pretty boring if everyone always agrees.

The same way McDavid headlocks Backlund, dangerously tackles him, and then Tkachuk tries to pull McDavid off and Oiler fans are upset at Tkachuk.
