Seriously Nvidia, delay launch if you don't actually have any of the damn things to sell!

Been almost 6 weeks since I ordered a 3080

I just gonna slide in here and ask a question sort of on topic.

We're having some connectivity issues in the house. Weridly, the Apple devices in the house keep dropping wifi or are connected with no or poor internet. All other devices seem fine. During the googling, well who knows.

But thats not really my question, we just have the standard telus modem\router for all our connection needs, so I'm thinking of upgrading for various reasons.

What is a good all around home router? How can some be 50$ and some be 400$? We just have your basic home network, nothing fancy around here. Couple devices, wifi outlets, google minis PC, macbook etc. Looking for some recommendations for a decent router, preferably under 100$ if thats possible.

Thanks.

Was able to order a 5900X from Memex online (before their site said in store only).

I guess who knows how long it'll be before I get one.

Apparently (in the EU anyway) the 5900x is on backorder to the tune of 4x as much as any of the other 5 series chips.

Gonna be hell to get in the coming months. Bah.

Seriously, all hype for the 3080 is gone. On the pre order list with memory express since day 1.

With new consoles this week and rumours cyberpunk could get pushed again, just totally over it. What a botched launch for Nvidia

Lok Intel has water coolers that incorporate a TEC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_cooling).

I'm convinced it doesn't actually exist

It does! We got lucky, don't give up. It was a pretty big upgrade over here.

Hey guys - just curious about your thoughts on my rig in its current state and where I should be focusing my money/effort:

Intel i5 8400
MSI Z370-A Pro mobo
16gb RAM 1066 mhz
GTX 1070
NVMe 970 EVO
3 samsung evo SSD drives that amount to 2TB

I'm thinking a new video card but I'm wondering if the 30XX series will cause bottlenecks with my mobo or processor? I'm leaning towards the 3070.

Whether or not your CPU will bottleneck a 30XX will depend a bit on what type of monitor you are using. In general, 1080P @ 240HZ+, you will probably run into CPU bottlenecks before GPU in most games. But if you are running a 4K display you will more likely be limited by the GPU in most situations. That being said, I would look at upgrading your GPU (and maybe your display depending on what you have) before the CPU/Mobo.

Also on your memory, I assume you meant 2066mhz DDR4? I haven't messed around with memory too much to know if that might be bottlenecking you or not. But I believe the 8400 has 2666mhz as the spec, so could maybe see some gains if you upgrade your memory (but again, I'm not sure if this could be a bottleneck or not).

Thanks for the repsonse!

Much to my wife's displeasure I allowed Psychnet to convince me to buy the 27" Acer XB271HU (G-SYNC)

Also here is my RAM:

Your RAM is running at 2132Mhz. CPU-Z shows the effective clock frequency (1066) but remember, DDR=Double Data Rate.

Fiddling around with CPU-Z program, the Memory tab is a more accurate representation of what speed the ram is running at as well as configuration

if all that's being done is gaming, just go for a new video card, cpu has been bottleneck for video cards for the last 5 years anyways, and unless the objective is to obtain 600FPS+in CS:GO there's not much tangible performance benefit by way of cpu upgrading.

3070 should provide maybe double the frames that 1070 has.

less than a week to Radeon 6800 and 6800xt release
Not likely to be in stock either, according to rumor mongers, as they project 100k-300k world wide. Still if you believe some of the other rumors they may provide better mining performance for that Ethereum 2.0 release in December. No bulk buys for the foreseeable future.

Spoiler!

Also, all those intel engineers who'd be useful in kicking AMD's performance are over at apple. https://www.apple.com/ca/newsroom/20...-unleashes-m1/

Seems like they're very situational cards. Good for certain games/resolutions, not so good for others compared to Nvidia 3000's.

The boost gained from working with a Zen 3 seems to be legit though.

I'll probably wait for whatever comes after the 3080 that has more RAM based off those reviews.

Might as well wait since the 3080 is a myth, it doesn't actually exist
