Lots of factors in this series. I think the Jets have much better top 6 talent and certainly have a huge edge in goaltending. But man, the d-core is a god damned tire fire.

I missed Gary's presser. Aren't there still a gazillion hurdles to jump through before this thing officially happens?

Anyway, if the league really ends up pulling this off, I like the Flames' chances against the Jets. It'll be weird, but exciting nonetheless.

At this point, it's happening until it's not.

Different franchises. Winnipeg still gets the team history from the old Jets but they are the franchise originally awarded to Atlanta.

This will be a hyper-competitive 5 game series. Winnipeg's defensive depth is not strong.
With the amount of depth on D I wonder if it is worth trying Kylington or Gustafsson on the wing in the training camp time. Would definitely ruffle the feathers of some forwards and would open Ward to a lot of criticism should they lose, but this kind of health/depth is unprecedented going into the playoffs. Might be a time to try something interesting that could pay off.

I'm currently referencing the NHL playing game like climbing Everest. They're in Nepal now with a plan. Now waiting for good weather to make it to Basecamp 1.

Awesome news, hockey's back, All Canadian match up, Jets stink, something fun to think about instead of Corona stuff, great news. Let's play and get back to some semblance of normal.

I like our odds against a pop-gun team like the Jets. Hopefully team defence will be the difference.

I think it is likely to happen at this point, depending on how much of a "second wave" there is. We also don't know yet the NHL's policy if a few players/staff start to test positive.

Yay! Hockey will be back - eventually.

Each team has their strengths. I'd give the coaching edge to the Jets, D to Calgary, forwards even and goaltending to the Jets if Conner is on his game.

I'm wondering what Bennett's playoff beard is going to look like with 5 extra months of prep.

Man these are gonna be exciting playoffs. My favourite round is always the first round because there are so many intriguing teams going at it. I love the variety.

Arizona
Florida
NY Rangers
Montreal
Chicago

All of these teams have a shot at it. They're flawed, sure, but we're also gonna get a chance to see guys like Hall, Barkov, Zibanejad, Price, and Kane in the playoffs. So exciting.

I have a big stupid grin on my face just thinking about hockey maybe being back relatively soon. I like our chances against the Jets. For goaltending I think a healthy and confident Rittich can match up pretty well against Hellebuyck. Our defense is way better on paper, and forward depth not terribly different.

Hoping the players looked after themselves well during the stoppage. It'll definitely show if they didn't.

An interesting thing to consider - no fans in the arenas, but will there be public viewing parties in various cities?

Drive-in theater style viewings on giant screens at various parking lots around the Dome? Something like that could be a cool way to engage fans.

They are holding drive in concerts in Denmark, so it can be done.
