Francis gets (sometimes rightfully) ripped by fans for some of his edgier hockey takes, but I think he deserves credit for good work too. Eric did a nice piece on Chris Snow's fight and ALS awareness yesterday:

I’m one of the rare few that actually likes Francis.

I do disagree with him a lot but I still like him.

So happy for him and his family, and of course the whole ALS family fighting this monster.

Glad to see him shooting pucks in the clip.

My Grandfather ended up with the fast version of ALS when i was young.
Believe he was in his 50's (Cant remember and have few precious memories of him)

I do know he was strong as an ox. We have a family picture of him carrying a full grown moose over his shoulders and appearently he walked about a KM with it to the truck in the snow.

ALS hit and within 2 months he was walking with a cane with his muscles shaking very badly, and another month and a half he was bed ridden and couldnt talk, and he was gone another 2 weeks after that.

Learned alot about ALS after that and our family was hugh in volunteering and fighting for the cause since that point.

Thats my story to share with about this beast.

Happy Snow and his Family get a bit more time together to make memories and i hope they have many more years to cherish.

Not terrific news on Twitter today.

I'll just post the tweets from Chris and Kelsie.

Sad to read that. Such a cruel disease, hard not to shed a tear when you see him with his kids.

You like a guy that historically tries to run our star players out of town? Lovely. The guy is media cancer.

That's horrifying. He seemed to be doing so well fairly recently.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with ALS. Is this something you can come back from? Kind of like how MS symptoms can come and go? Or is the disease pretty much on rails at this point?

No its degenerative, It'll continue to progress and rob him of functionality. They can try to treat the symptoms. which is what they're doing with a feeding tube.

I hated reading the tweets this morning.

Sure, but maybe you should have nipped that in the bud with the post I was replying to so it never had a chance to go down that road. I was not the one who took it off topic here. Anyhow hopefully there are new advances medically against this terrible disease.

Pardon me, I'm going to go back and read Tuesdays with Morrie again. I need some perspective.
