Monahan and Gaudreau have been around long enough to convince me that neither of them will ever be even average (for players of their general skill level) in the D-zone.

And it's really strange to me, because Monahan just seems to automatically find the most dangerous spot when he's in the offensive zone, then goes there, but yet frequently has no clue where the dangerous guy is in his defensive end.

Yet NHL teams feel differently. Not to single you out, but this kind of statement always bugs me. Indeed, players who are playing a game in the NHL clearly do have business being there, as a team has made the decision to employ them.
