I love that video, my favorite was him just trying to figure out why they brought him in to host. You kind of have to watch it as obviously Norm's legendary delivery is what makes it so funny.
"In a year and a half, how did I got from being not funny enough to be even allowed in the building, to being so funny that I'm now hosting the show?".
Norm is so good.
I think he is one of the most underrated/under appreciated comics of his generation.
The man is gold, gold I tell ya!

I think Leslie Jones is emerging as a break-out star. She has a manic energy not seen since Chris Farley. She was featured in 3 or 4 bits and Sasheer barely appeared at all.
Funny to see the Flaming Lips backing up Cyrus.
I liked the 2015 summer newsmakers that appeared in the monologue - the black/white woman from Spokane, the dentist hunter and Kim Davis.

Either I don't watch enough NBC programming or they did a poor job of promoting the season premiere because I didn't even know that the new season was starting up.

Honestly I was impressed with Cyrus as the musical act, when she gets away from all of the twerking wrecking ball garbage, she's very talented and has a great smokey voice for the Blues if she every went down the road.
I did like the 50's highschool dance number, other then that not a memorable episode for a season debut.

Agreed Leslie Jones has a star quality to her. Will be interesting to see if she can reach beyond her usual loud, outrageous persona or if she'll stay typecast in those roles.
Taram Killam is the heavyweight. Loved his bit as Trump. I see him and Kate McKinnon as the new Hader and Wiig. Then IMO the strongest are the overweights and the non-whites (hope that's PC). Aidy Bryant, Moynihan, Thompson, Jones, Pharaoh... Who wasnt used much last night. The rest of the cast doesn't really spark a lot of hilarity. But I'm glad they kept it largely the same, just for continuity to see what develops. And the new guy showed good range last night.
So all in all excited to see what the new season will bring. I feel the show has gotten stronger recently and hope it continues.

So I wasn't home for the weekend and I was getting my roof redone. The guys took off my dish and didn't put it back on until last night because they figured I wasn't home so there was no rush. I didn't get to see this and was somewhat excited for it.

Jones showed some depth as the 50s talk show host. She was a writer on the show before being added as a performer.
Pretty solid show. Leaned a bit heavily on Jones on the back half and her typical "loud black girl" persona started to get a bit worn by the third bit in a row. I wouldn't say the 50s talk host character was that different than the rest.
The Trump cold opening was great. Killam nailed a lot of the speech and facial expressions that others gloss over.
