That was one of the funniest shows of the season. Driver was great.

As Cameron, the community theater acting student who’s gotten way too into his role as one of the overpriced theme restaurant chain’s jousting knights, Driver successfully freaks out everybody as he goes maniacally Method. With emcee Mikey Day unsuccessfully reigning Cameron in (he’s brought homemade armor and weapons, and provided a whole tortured backstory for his knight’s crusade against the playacting king and queen), Driver plays the role with as much steely seriousness as Cameron would if he’d suddenly been cast on Game Of Thrones instead of hawking $110 chicken and potato dinners that don’t even come with “the dignity of a fork!” The premise is a simple one for Driver to hang his delightfully straight-faced performance on, his attempts to role-play tolerance toward coworker Bowen Yang’s “Mongolian” and Chris Redd’s “blackamoor” attendants greeted with unnoticed horror, and his backstory emerging in the anguished wail over his nonexistent dead son, “His name was Brannon!!” That’s how you put Adam Driver in a comedy sketch.

Buck Henry got a single title card in tribute to his passing earlier this week, so I’ll just say this. Henry was a successful writer and creator when SNL started, but the affably game Henry became such a frequent early host that people often mistook him for part of the original cast. Noted for being the easiest, most uncomplaining host to work with, Henry was infamous for doing riskier sketches that no other host would touch, and for coming in to host late in the season when everyone was running on fumes.

Driver really is a great host. I loved his monologue, walking up to the camera and directing the music.
I will probably be using the line "I'm going to yell the C word into my shirt" from here on out, ya know, because the girl never comes first.

JJ Watt did really good for a non-actor, seemed charming and personable.

JJ Watt was ok.
Adam Driver was excellent. That was a great cold open. Having the host in it doesn’t happen a lot.

I wonder what musical sketch they will have this time with Mulaney? The Le Mis /Diner Lobster sketch is still one of my favourite sketches in the last few years. It was so random.

RuPaul was okay. Sucks weekend update is going to be even more full of Trump than usual for the foreseeable future...

Chloe Fineman had a huge breakthrough on Weekend Update impersonating Oscar actresses. So much creativity, intelligence and charisma. I think she will emerge as next big SNL star.

Yeah, this is getting pretty pathetic.

Buck Henry (RIP) hosted SNL 10 times between 1976 and 1980.

Ru Paul was good. I think he (she? I honestly don’t know) is hilarious. Props to the Biebs for actually singing. I always complain when it’s a bad lip sync.
Does anyone watch the SNL classic that airs earlier? I have a bunched PVRd that I haven’t gotten to. And some that I have. Like the Rock and Chris Kattan in the monkey man sketch. It kills me every time.
