Hopefully they're just saving up for the 22nd. I care a lot more about that game.
Also, I'm sick of watching away games at Langford. That camera setup has had 2 years to get dealt with.

Where do you sit when you get tickets/bus ride from the Ship for Cav's games?

The club is in a no-win situation here. They are going to piss off supporters no matter what decision they make. Personally, I would much rather have a policy like this than have the stands empty. It sounds like feedback is overwhelmingly positive, but as usual with the few vocal detractors making a stink, and a few deriding the club for not doing this earlier.
I am glad they are looking after the majority of their supporters.

Looking at their responses in their Facebook comments, you may still attend without proof of vaccination, but you do require a valid negative result…
Unfortunately there does appear to be a trend of unvaccinated people refusing to be tested as well.

2021 Cavalry FC and CPL season thread
If you’re unvaccinated and refuse to be tested, you deserve to play no part in society because you’re an ignorant walking, talking and breathing danger to us all.

Ledgerwood on a great free kick!
Should’ve been a penalty, Mason taken down clearly inside the area but Ledgerwood makes it not matter!
Edit: 1-1 final. Valour’s goal was a huge deflection off Trafford and then Novak was incorrectly called offside for the go ahead goal at the end. Too bad but Cavalry needs to develop a killer instinct and start burying more chances

I'm not sure what constitutes a penalty, offside or yellow card in this league.
Felt like a sloppy game to me where everyone was a step off. Hopefully they are a little more finely tuned come Wednesday.

Final service seems really hard to come by. We know Mason can fill the net if given the chance, but who's going to get it to him? Farsi, Camargo and Escalante need to step it up in this area. To many final balls predicated on hope.

If Minatel gets back to game shape he's one of the better AMs in the league

Is he progressing? I assume it will be a slow road back to him starting and playing to his full abilities. If he makes it back this season, that would be a huge boost.
Predictions for Wednesday?
I'm not terribly optimistic given recent form. But sometimes teams just carry themselves completely differently in cup competitions and don't look like their typical league-selves. Let's hope there are a few more notches to turn it up at home in a cup tie.

I'm not expecting a result on Wednesday. Pacific are a good side who has Cavalry's number this year, and Cavalry haven't shown up for the big games since knocking out the Whitecaps.
The only thing that tips the scale in Cavalry's favour is being at home, but I'm not sure what type of crowd will be there Wednesday with the new restrictions. I'm hoping that means more people come out.

CONCACAF Champions League is announcing a new format starting in 2024. 27 clubs qualify, 2 of which come from the CPL and 1 from the Canadian Championship. 22 clubs start in the first round with 5 getting a bye to the second round.
Can't wait to play Mexican clubs at Spruce Meadows in the snow!

So there's not guaranteed to be a Canadian MLS team, but there are guaranteed to be two CPL teams? LOL

To look at it another way... it is possible to be all 3 Canadian MLS teams AND 2 CanPL teams in any given year... Canadian Championship will almost certainly be an MLS team for the next 5 years, plus there's four MLS spots and two Leagues Cup spots that the other 2 Canadian MLS teams could conceivably qualify for. Most likely, it'll be 1-2 Canadian MLS teams and 2 CanPL teams in an average season.
Its definitely a very Canada slanted arrangement.

Pretty equal all around. You have at least 5 League MX teams, potentially 2 more League MX team in the Leagues Cup.
MLS has 4 slots plus most likely the US Open Cup spot, and again, could have 1 or two League Cup spots and maybe a Canadian champion team.
Toss in 5 Central American Non Mexican teams from the new Central America Cup and 2 Carribean club teams.
That above is all the first round.
In addition, you'll have the League Cup Champion, League MX Champion, again, those in theory could all be League MX teams which would be 9 League MX teams out of 20 in the league.
Given its CONCACAF, Montagliani or not, the format is likely to change each year as federations complains and the spineless CONCACAF bends.

When the Concacaf champions league started in 2008 it was made clear that the MLS spots belonged to the USSF. So if a Canadian MLS team were to win the league (at the time that was only Toronto and they were a long way from contending back then), they would not enter the champions league. This was also the year that the Canadian Championship was introduced in it's current format, with MLS Toronto and USL Vancouver and Montreal playing out a round robin for the CSA's champions league spot. (Fun fact, despite Toronto being the only MLS team, it was actually Montreal that won and did quite well in the champions league. I'm sure the diehards on here remember them selling out the Olympic stadium for their quarter final against Santos of Mexico!)
I would assume that this is still the case and the MLS spots are only for US based teams, but I dont really feel like googling it right now

Yeah, if anything this seems like it screws the Canadian MLS teams, which I'm fine with. They are clingons in a US league, and I think the clear support of a Canadian league is appropriate.
I also like how this will keep the Canadian Championship a meaningful tournament for the Canadian MLS teams to add to some excitement.
Also, GAME DAY!!!

Getting excited for the match tonight! I think we’ll see a very strong game from both sides and I think Cavalry gets it done at home. All the roster rotation, all the tinkering with formations will pay off tonight
