Adidas may replace Reebok jersey branding
Small news, but might of interest to some.

I predict a lot of jerseys with three vertical stripes on the back of the neck on the shoulder piece stopping at the torso piece.
I like Adidas though.

I would be absolutely shocked if they did decide to do this, since so much of of brand strength of Reebok comes from their tie in with the NHL, however it is happening in other sports. In the CFL for example, next season Adidas will be the official footwear on field and on the sidelines which may transition into them taking over the jerseys as well. They've been growing astronomically in college football in the US so I can see them trying to do the same thing here.
I'll dig around and see if I can find any more info on the NHL rumours...

As long as it isn't Nike. What a joke the recent Olympic jerseys were, my god.
Really, I'd like the rights to slide to a different company entirely, but if Adidas brings some different eyes to the table instead of letting Reebok do the legwork and just slapping their logo on it, then I think it's a good move for hockey fans. Adidas has less of a passion for "flash" than a company like Nike for the most part, and is fairly good at representing classic lines and cuts for a lot of their products. Would NHL jerseys be a part of that? Maybe, maybe not. But at this point the Flames especially could use a really iconic jersey. The only things we've had anywhere close is the 80's and 04 jersey.

I miss those red CCM jerseys.
I get that the NHL sell the rights to the highest bidder, but I miss the days when individual teams could decide which manufacturer made their jerseys.

Purchased them recently.
Don't know if this is going to lead to a league wide jersey change. They may stick to the current EDGE jersey fabric. Even if they wanted make a big change to signify they're the NHLs official jersey (granted they become so), may have a few teams only make big changes, while the rest transition with the same style.

Basketball player picks up hooker after game and up to his room for drinks before the real party starts. She notices a Nike tat on his bicep and asks him why. He says when they put the camera on me I get endorsement money. As she is removing her blouse and he ,his trousers, she asks him about the Reebok tat on his thigh.Same thing he says, when the cameras on me, I make some dough. He whips off his boxers and she sees the letters Aids on his large tool and panics.Don,t tell me you have AIDS she shouts.Naw he says...just start stroking it and it,ll soon say ADIDAS.

You.... REALLY don't know how the whole "parent company" thing works do you?
If Adidas were to start branding and producing the jerseys, an entirely different company would be making them using entirely different designers, entirely different production, and well, they could certainly be entirely different.
It's not really a big deal, but if you're going for the casual one liner, at least know what you're taking about broooooooo.

Yes, I'm well aware of all that. But considering that it's a company owned by a larger company that is looking to put its name there instead I can't see any huge changes happening. It's not like CCM or Under Armour, etc are looking to take it.
