Alberta health-care system sets another record with 312 patients in intensive care

Quote:
A letter addressed to the public from the Alberta Medical Association intensive care section paints a grim picture should the situation continue.

"We remain on the verge of a health system collapse in Alberta," it reads.

Critical care units require a specialized workforce but despite additional staffing, there are insufficient numbers of these to keep up with the increasing ICU patient numbers, the letter said. As a result, the number of patients assigned to each nurse has increased.

Her boosters came to my house to talk and left really disappointed. So the next day they dumped a bunch of her pamphlets on my porch. I guess they figured that would sway me.

Well I actually received a call back from my MLA, we spoke for about 15 minutes. It didn't start off well, because he insisted on saying that we have a mandatory vaccine passport, using those words. Basically they don't want to do any further restrictions because people have done their duty and gotten vaccinated, and there would be civil unrest if they then asked these people to be more restricted. I obviously disagree with that. He said he advocated for a circuit breaker lock down at the last caucus meeting, but it was voted down. He pointed to the unique challenges Alberta has due to our demographics, which I presume he meant the rural freedumb crowd.

He asked what I would do, I said we need a big lock down for a few weeks to let our hospitals get back under control, and then do targeting restrictions in communities with low vaccination rates. He really did want to hear what people felt were solutions.

Basically, they are watching the numbers, hoping the downward trend continues. He had very good things to say about the new health minister, that he would do the right thing, and we'd hear from him soon. But for now, it's number watching. It sounds like they are paralyzed, and "wait and see" is the strategy going forward.

Anyway, it feels good to at least know someone will listen, and getting voices to our MLA's is important, so get on it.

I'd love to FOIP the War Room to see how much this cost, but that's a no-go since its a private corporation held by Kenney, Savage and Schweitzer

How would choosing Alberta oil protect from rising gas prices?

Sounds more like the strategy is "cross our fingers and hope." It's worked so well before, I can see why they keep trying it.

The imagery used is of filling up your gas tank in your car. How exactly does the average American take action on this that doesn't go beyond their day-to-day routine?

Last time I was in the States, I don't recall filling up my car at the gas station with Canada, Venezuela, or Saudi Arabia.

It's ridiculous. Such an inefficient way to advertise.

Donít worry everyone Iím sure there will be an eleventy billion percent return on that taxpayer investment.

In all seriousness though, if this type of advertising is actually effective and available at that price point then why arenít billion dollar O&G companies paying for it themselves? Oh wait thatís right, itís because itís cheaper for them to financially support the election campaigns of politicians who will make the taxpayers do it for them.

Not a good look for our O&G industry.
