Exhibition games are really important to the prospects that are close to making the NHL.
Right now there likely is an attitude/reality adjustment done by Pelletier. What he thought was good preparation was not enough. It would have been great to get Zary into some exhibition games.
There is an opportunity for someone like Monahan to show that he was NHL ready in the exhibition series and not worth his development for another year of junior.
It appears the cap management in general leaves most team's opening day roster really set with injuries the only opportunity for a prospect to push his way onto the roster.
