I remember we did a 3-day school trip to Ft Steele - maybe grade 7? I remember one afternoon they had all of us clear a field of any rocks bigger than your fist (we all had tiny fists).

The activity that was popular was pushing the steel hoop with a stick. I think there were only two hoops available.

I also remember sleeping in barracks.

Those three memories are honestly the only three things I remember about the trip.

3 days? Wow, you must have been really bad kids.

Due to weather/timing we ended up driving through Radium area in a torrential downpour... did the mandatory Invermere bakery (get there early to get the good stuff), and some other local stuff. Headed to Canal flats where they have the headwaters of the Columbia and also a brilliant little beach/park called Tilley Memorial (highly recommended)... and the cheapest gas in the valley I'm sure. Lussier hot springs of course was on the list although it was a little busy... the natural springs are a little sulfur-stinky (which I like) and rather quaint. Due to the rain the road was quite wet so the vehicle came out very dirty. Kept driving up to Whiteswan Lake and the next one too which takes you on a narrower road immediately beside the lake which was awesomely scenic. A few more potholes up here for sure. Didn't have the camping trailer but it sure would be spectacular up there in the mountains and lakes - you'd want a decent truck and lifted trailer probably to get up there.
