The idea was to cash in on the fact that Wregget was thought of as a potential star (despite his age) that was being held back in Pittsburgh, due to the presence of Tom Barasso. If I recall correctly, Wregs had a very good run in the playoffs a short time before we aquired him, backing up an injured Barasso. He left at the end of the year as a UFA, but I think they wanted to keep him longer. His year with the Flames was his best regular season statistically.
Titov was drafted when he was 27 (I think he spent 3 or 4 years driving a tank in Russia in his early 20's), so he must have been 32-33 when we traded him, and though he was a fan fave, age and injury was starting to take their toll.
