I'm going to Arizona at the end of February. Want to do lots of mountain biking. I'm thinking of spending a few days in Sedona. Any Arizona recommendations?

Sedona has amazing mountain biking. In February, Flagstaff is quite a bit higher in elevation and is much colder, and could even have snow. We are planning on going back to Sedona next October.

I live in Aspen Woods.

If you are going DT, take Strathcona Drive and cross the intersection of Bow and Sarcee and that will take you right to Edworthy.

It is about 12-14km into DT.

Got out to west Bragg today, conditions are great and so was the weather today. Probably the last ride out there of the year, unless we get another good stretch of warm weather. I’ve also gotten a great couple of road rides in on the new bike.

Anyone ever done any riding in Maui, road or mountain? I have a couple of days there coming up, and was thinking of trying to get a ride in. Is the Haleakala downhill worth it?

I went out to WBC yesterday for a ride with my dog. Conditions were awesome.
If you go to Maui and are planning a road ride, do the West Maui loop. It's one of the best road rides I've ever done. It will take you longer than you think.

Can anyone recommend a decent shop chain tool? Mine packed it in.....I've got a Crankbrothers mini tool set that goes in the pannier, but I'd like one for the work bench.

Thanks!

I have this park tool chain tool. It's been solid for a couple of years.

Shimano makes a good chain tool...

But, if money is no object...get the Abbey Decade.

With respect to the tools, is there really any difference between the cheap Park Tool one and a $200 chain break?

The Park Tool looks different than the one I have. There use to be some forks that held the chain.

I did 2/3 of the West Maui Loop back in January. It's very fun.

Make sure you go clockwise!

Those Lime bikes are brutal. Rode from Bridgeland to Stephen Ave and back. Cost $10. It was slower than my human powered bike. I always ride with a helmet, but requiring helmets is going to kill those things.

The app was really slick. The rest sucked. Almost Car2go prices. Sheesh.

Everywhere Lime operates scooters and bikes requires helmets... No one wears them.

Looking on twitter plenty of Limebike users are riding with no helmet here in YYC. Heck there are a few ebike riders going opposite me on my commute and a couple of them don't wear helmets.

The helmet requirement is probably just to cover Lime bikes for liability.

Saw it mentioned during the launch that there's a provincial law that requires e-bikers wear helmets (because they're so similar to motorcycles...).

I have seen many people saying on Twitter that the police should just turn a blind eye to it. Can't help but think the better outcome would be a realization that the law doesn't make sense. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Helmets are mandatory for kids as well, I doubt that law is enforced all that often.

I ride an eBike and wear my helmet, but apparently we're actually supposed to wear motorcycle helmets because we have a motor..

I used to live in PAtterson and rode to work downtown a lot. the ride to work was easy, they ride home was a real workout. You are almost always riding into the wind, and then you see the river out of the corner of your eye, and you feel like you are against that. And your reward is a a long climb.

i used to break up the climb by taking those switchbacks by shaganappai golf course, but that road is still an uphill grade and the wind comes more into play. You will get in good shape though.

On those days when you are felling really strong, make the climb up thru ed worthy.

Haha, exactly, that’s hilarious. For some reason the province treats a pedal assist like a motorcycle, instead of like any other bike.
