And the accuser's lawyers should at least do the most basic of due diligence before filing. If the accuser's account is correct and she merely mistook the time period, the lawyers have potentially harmed her case by including significant inaccuracies in the complaint. Though the lawyers sound like real pieces of work, so maybe that's not surprising. One of them sued his law school for giving a failing grade, sued Home Depot over a slip and fall, and sued eBay when he lost out on a bid to win Elvis' first house:

The other was caught entertaining a bribe from an undercover FBI agent:

Everyone’s memories, all the time, play tricks on their owners. Plenty of research on that, including how you can actually make up a memory that is entirely false but have no inclination it’s not reality. You don’t have to experience something to believe you have.

I have a really, really difficult time accepting anything by someone says as factual, especially half a century later.

I am not quite at that old, but I can remember events from when I was very young and they didn’t even involve something as jarring as getting plied with drugs and being molested by a famous musician.

I don’t think memories are that fleeting unless you are suffering memory loss.

its not that memories are fleeting, its that a real memory gets added to and changed, my rule of thumb was always if a kid said they were abused they were abused but the time and exact circumstances of something as catastophically damaging to the psyche were often a jumbled mess,

Trauma can have serious effects on memory.

Yeah, I was just responding to the post above that it isn’t so shocking that a person could recall something that happened to them a long time ago when they were young.

I’m not saying a person couldn’t recall something from when they were young, but that there’s good probability what you believe is true as a memory is not.

There’s a huge body of work on it, more than I can paraphrase. But there seems to be a pretty solid scientific background around the ability for memories to be altered, falsified or outright made up.

There was a cool quasi-experiment where a professor had his first-year students outline their previous day on September 12, 2001. He then contacted them again 4 years later to check back in and ask them about September 11th, and a surprising number of them had massive mistakes in their memory. Most of us can remember what we were wearing on that day, but there is evidence to suggest we've probably fabricated a lot of it.

As afc says, memory in general is way worse than most of us realize, and throwing trauma into the mix complicates matters to a whole new level.

That's the real trip about memory though, isn't it? Whenever we reminisce we're actually recalling the last time we remembered the event and not the event itself. The brain is so wild.

Not sure how many people watch Dark Side of the Ring on Vice/Crave, but the most recent episode was pretty....enlightening. Of course you probably didn't need to see it to know that Ric Flair was likely a sexual predator, but it was pretty shocking to hear how common it was in the wrestling culture to drug and rape women.

Tommy Dreamer made some damaging comments that probably ruined his career, and Brock Lesner sure comes off as a creep.

RVD also mentioned that “the boys” often H-bombed women to have their way with them. Basically accusing wrestlers of rape like it was nothing.

Hearing that pro wrestlers engaged in that behavior regularly in the 90s is about as surprising as hearing that rock bands engaged in that behavior regularly in the 90s.

No way....who would ever have thought that he'd potentially be a deviant?

How many times has this guy been accused of improper conduct with minors over the years? You'd think going through that once is enough to scare the crap out of someone. At this point he obviously has a problem and it's in the best interest he goes away for a long time. Really such a cocky dirtbag.
