Capitals coach Peter Laviolette says four COVID-19 protocol players -- Alex Ovechkin, Ilya Samsonov, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov -- are in quarantine and he believes they'll miss the next four games.
They broke the protocols, nothing to discuss there, but my question is: why does that rule exist? These guys travel together, eat together, practice together, and play together. Every single day. Without masks for much of it.
But they can't get in a room together? I mean, obviously they can't have other people in their room, but each other? They are in a team bubble together all the time anyway.

because you still can't guarantee that a player didn't get it somewhere while @ their home city or even during travel as symptoms don't immediately show, so you have rules to try to limit exposure on the road, such as not allowing them to be in a small confined room wearing no masks, where covid spreads the easiest.

So the team plane doesn't count?

Don’t they mostly have them off on the ice, and that’s it? High volume environment with limited duration near any specific individual.
We joke but its stuff like this that will cancel the season...players should be smarter
The Dallas Stars still haven’t played a game. I wonder how much that cost the league and broadcasters to reschedule. It can happen quickly and is easily mitigated.
