Its almost as though they're not the consummate Professionals that they portray themselves as....

It definitely had it's moment, but I don't think Tiger King was ever really deserving of the ridiculous hype. I imagine watching it many months after everyone else doesn't help.

Yep. I am thinking this is one of those series that is appreciated more in the moment. I am tapping out after episode 2. I just can’t get interested in it.

Tiger King was a fad. Great while it lasted but couldn’t care less about it now.

I disagree. I've said this a million times, but I'll say it again.

If you're a fan of Documentaries, this one is a must watch.

They started with an idea and then everything went entirely off the rails once they started peeling back the layers.

I would love to see a 'behind the scenes' interview with the makers.

"You see, we started making a documentary about private zoos and the people who own exotic animals.....and then things got weird...."

There is a "Why I made the Tiger King" documentary on Youtube. Plus, Netflix released sort of a Tiger King, where are they now show which followed up on the participants.

I love documentaries, but this one didn’t do it for me, and I enjoyed watching 6 hours of David Sutherland’s “Country Boys”, and “Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe”. Both of which were more engaging than “Tiger King”, to me at least.

It arrived at a perfect time to create a pop culture storm. We were just getting into serious lockdown, people needed something, anything. We were saved by that bitch Carole Baskins.

Yeah Tiger King was pretty meh overall, definitely benefited from being released when it was.

The Last Dance on the other hand, I watched that like 5 more times

I don’t disagree that it’s a must watch. I was more talking about the cultural impact of Tiger King. I feel like you won’t get the same experience watching it now as you would have back in March or April. Definitely worth the watch, but the hype is dead.

Lupin

A 5 part first season French series centered around the theft of a very valuable necklace (with an interesting history). Overdubbed in English

It is also based on an early 1900s character, gentleman spy and master of disguise, Arsene Lupin. It is set in modern times

Agree w csnarpy and Octothorp

It’s not Sherlock, but was pretty decent

Just watched Mortal Engines...it has to be one of the worst movies ever made. Wow it was bad, you couldn't make it worse if you tried lol.

I often start speeding up a movie if I'm not enjoying it and just want to get through it.

I got about 30 minutes into Mortal Engines and cranked that baby up to maximum speed.

Just terrible.

Outside the Wire was typical Netflix. Unoriginal, forgettable, bad story, lazy writing but with a decent cast and special effects.

I watched Baby Done tonight (instead of the third period). It’s a clever take on the “She’s having a baby” theme. Rose Matafeo is a funny comic and she’s great in this.

Edit: not on Netflix. Wrong thread.

Here was my review for reference:

Quote:
Mortal Engines: I knew this would be bad and even then it failed to live up to my expectations. Future generations will study this as the perfect example of how to make a horrible flop. I am amazed at how much they tried to cram in here. The entire movie is world building, character introductions, and every action trope you can think of leaving no time left for anything else including a coherent interesting story. The acting is bad but the writing is worse with the funny parts being cringe and the emotional parts being funny. Oh and this is all happening front of a lot of mediocre CGI. 2/10
