I remember saying to friends that the amount of energy he was throwing into the election would kill him. Never thought I'd be right...
He's a great leader (one of the few personable ones in Canadian politics) and no matter what political stripes you wear, you have to respect the man for his love of Canada.
He was such a charismatic leader (even though I'm not an NDP supporter).
This is a huge loss for the NDP, after breaking so much new ground in the last election.
My condolences go out to his friends and family. RIP.
Speechless at how powerful this damn disease is. Seems like every month I am hearing of someone else getting it.
Where does all the money go when donated to cancer funds? Research that turns out not to work and then they start over? (I don't say that in a challenging tone but actually curious)
RIP Jack

Man, you have to respect what he did for the NDP. Awful news this morning, very unfortunate to hear this.

RIP Jack. I disliked your political beliefs but have/had nothing but the utmost respect for how you fought for your beliefs to be heard and adopted. You truly had the best intentions for Canadians in your heart.
I can't recall if I commented on it when he stepped down, but I remember thinking that he looked exactly like my dad did a few weeks before passing away from cancer. Thankfully neither had to suffer for months and months in agony as many cancer victims do.

There is some possibly groundbreaking good news on its way, there's a few stories lately (last 2-3 weeks) that hint at some utterly massive hope for a real cure against cancer.
He gave everything he had for what he believed in, and you have to respect that. I hope that when I am on my death bed, I can look in the mirror and say; "I did the best that I could".
It's sad that he never got to open parliament as the the leader of the opposition.

I dont like him.
I dont like him any more or less ater hearing this.
My condolences go to his life partner and his children in their time of un-imaginable sorrow.
Nicely and honestly stated.
I agree.
Sort of like Lucien Bouchards bout with flesh-eating disease. Not something you'd wish on your worst enemy and, at the time, Bouchard really WAS Canada's worst enemy.
