That's strange, the place always seemed packed.

Something must have been up with the owners or the lease. You don't just give up one of the best locations in the city to focus on a tiny casino location on your own volition.

I'm shocked. I have so many memories. Both as a patron and also when I did a few gigs there.

I used to enjoy going there to watch people and sports, and later for weekend brunches. I'm kinda sad, but I've hardly gone there the last couple of years.

I'm sure whatever replaces it is going to be super pretentious and have drinks that cost 25% more. That location is too good.

I walked by around 11:30 today. The windows were all covered from the inside and there was about 20 people, along with a CBC camera man, all standing outside. Probably related but I'm unsure how/why.

Nothing's up.
I know the owner's wife personally (worked with her previously and have kids roughly same age).
She told me that he just wants to focus on his family. Nothing wrong with that.

Didn't it always? I don't think it was ever that good food wise.
But yeah, you'd think the owner would easily be able to sell that business for a nice profit, even if it was just the naming rights.

But what bar will I go to, to sit out front on my Harley, while holding my gut in and hoping the wind doesn't blow my plugs out.

I dont know man, while I agree that its a prime location, thats a double-edged sword.
A few of the people that I know that were associated with it mentioned that its overhead was astronomical.

I was never a huge fan.
When it was really busy it was almost uncomfortable
Bathrooms were awful
The lower levels had no appeal and was almost wasted space IMO
My early guess was a simple re brand due to bar watch like what Classic Jacks went through... it doesnt make sense to just shut down and I never heard of any attempts to sell it. My guess is it turns into 2 establishments...overhead with that much space and competition seems risky!

Maybe all the idiots with loud bikes will go hang out somewhere else now. Edmonton sounds good.

Are we still allowed to deport people to Edmonton? I thought they stopped allowing that to be a thing. Can it still be a thing?
Bikers drink themselves into a drunken stupor and then we throw them and their bikes into a trailer and when they wake up they're somewhere around 137th Ave and the Anthony Henday?

To many Delta Bravos at that place. Every single time I saw, they crowded the bar area.
Loved trivia nights though.

Are there any bars that do trivia in Calgary?
I have never seen that in Calgary since I moved from Nova Scotia 6 years ago

Bull & Finch in Bridlewood used too, and 'Name that tune'.
Only good thing about that dump though
