If true I hope they penalize them a 1st rnd pick. It can't be this year so would be 2021.

so more details here:
https://www.tsn.ca/video/insider-tra...ension~1888707

OHL, WHL, and QMJHL have asked teams to report any contact [between Coyotes and players]
According to many sources multiple teams have reported contact
It is clearly defined by the NHL that no physical testing can happen before the Draft Combine.
If guilt is established, the Coyotes could have to pay $250k or more per incident at the discretion of Bettman

Bizarre.

I don't see how Arizona thought they could get away with this if they were just straight out inviting players to their own combine.

I think there must be some kind of grey area in the rules that the media hasn't bothered to mention.

I'm not sure physical testing is all that useful anyway.

Just because you can’t do a single pull up, it doesn’t mean you’re a bust.

Just 4 incidents could add up to more than $1 million in fines, which isn't insignificant for a market like Arizona. Of course, that's at the discretion of Bettman, who I can't imagine levying the harshest punishment against one of his greatest failures.

I would rather they keep their $1M and lose a 1st rnd pick. Wtf is a million dollars to a billionaire?

At least they're being proactive with the inevitable Hall-fueled lottery win.

Selfishly, I think they should lose 10 points in the standings from this season. Doesn't really make sense but it would help the Flames.

I am sure there are things going on. Just being in close contact gives them a scouting edge.

I didn’t even know this was a rule in the first place. Why is this a rule? Why not just let physical testing anytime anywhere happen?

Well you take away draft picks and you’re penalizing their fans (however few they have) and their players, who had nothing to do with this.

if an organization breaks rules (i.e. Astro's etc)

There has to be a penalty, I would also prefer the loss of a draft pick.

$250k etc fine is not severe enough
