When you need a backup as desperately as they do that’s not a high price. I think Hutchinson’s save percentage on the season was approaching Hiller’s level from a couple of years ago.

He could end up a decent middle six winger, slotted better on a weak LA club, to take advantage of what he does well.

It will be interesting to see if he wasn't just a throw in, but someone identified as being misutilized.
It's a really simple concept, getting a future asset for an expiring one. Kicking that asset expiration at least a year down the line.

The kings are rebuilding, so the return is assets of value to a rebuilding team.

I don't know anything about trevor Moore, but one thing I know now after googling him is that he is a California native. All things being equal I think getting a local asset is better than not. For instance if Agostino or Hanowski had been from Grand Prairie or Leduc, the return would've been marginally better because you hope there is a fit there with familiarity. It increases the likelihood that the asset acquired will stay in your organization happier, for longer.

I agree...and there is a good chance a 2nd is involved

Also, we should probably wait until he plays a game...I can't imagine the pressure

A 2nd for Campbell
A 3rd for Clifford

Seems about standard pricing if not an overpay for Campbell, but it addresses some glaring needs for Toronto.

Fair trade for both teams.

I think this is a great trade for Toronto because they now have one of the best goaltending tandems in the NHL.

If that is the resume needed they could have signed Troy Brouwer for peanuts and not give up any assets. Clifford is a bum.

Leafs had nobody who would stick up for them physically, now they do. It gives your other players a little bit of security, which can mean a lot.

BTW, Brouwer doesn't give his teammates any security, that's why he's not here anymore.

The biggest takeaway in this thread for me is how Gillies seems to have rebounded well from last seasons disaster. Dark horse shot at being the backup next year?

What does the QO look like for him? That probably will dictate it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him just let go, meaning not re-signed.

The Talbot experiment was partially to see exactly how much of a gameload Rittich could handle in a season. If the Flames are comfortable with a 2/3 to 1/3 split, I think that there is a good chance of seeing Gilles as the backup next year.

People are acting like Moore is just a roster move. Hes a great player. He can kills penalties but has a lot of offensive upside

Much better chance they give Zagidulin a look than Gillies, IMO.

Assuming Talbot doesn't sign back here, but that seems like a slim chance.
