Ring Road To Nowhere
Sounds like this ring road through the Tsu Tsina reserve may actually finally be going through. I used to be in favour of it, but now I think it's just going to bring the riffraff from Wullerton and Shelbyville into the city. Plus my boss lives in Evergreen and I hate him.

On a side note, anyone know when the portion of NW ring road between Sarcee and Simons Valley will open? That'll shave a good 10 minutes off my commute.

The Native's should be granted full title to the surface of all their reserve lands. This deal would have been done a long time ago and all parties would have been better off.

It will never get built without it.
Frankly, I think the city should have walled off the access to the Grey Eagle Casino from 37th until an agreement was reached.

Probobly late summer/early fall. By late fall, everything around the North end of town should be open.

I actually don't want it to open since I never need to really use the ring road I actually like just taking Stoney up to Beacon Hill every once and a while when I want to do 160 and don't want a ticket. That road is always deserted and never has cops.

It almost looks like all the overpasses are complete, it just needs paving.

Hah, I've only ever driven that road once, and there was a speed trap set up near Sarcee. Lucky for me I was going slow because I wasn't sure where the hell I was going.

Cue the whining from residents who will back onto the road.
Cause this was never planned when they moved in 20 years ago or anything.

There has been a lot of resistance from the idiots who lived there, and knew it was going to get built eventually when they bought their houses. Hopefully the city is smart enough to tell them to go to hell.

Yeah, right now there is a great "green space" where Southland will be extended, and my cousin lives nearby. He says he will miss the space, but he can't believe the number of people who think it should remain. Yes, it has been there for 30 years. But the reason it never got turned into a street with houses was to allow for this.
At least they have the right idea in McKenzie Towne- signs all over the place saying things like "This really cool hockey/basketball park will eventually become an LRT park & ride, so no bitching when we tear it up." (Or words to that effect.)

I don't know if there are any realtors/serious real estate players on here, but what do you think this means for property values in communities like Woodbine, Shawnessy, Cedabrae, Braeside, etc?

I would think that good traffic access to my community would trump a single park area in terms of property values. Especially since in Woodbine you can walk to Fish Creek park in < 10 mins from almost anywhere in the community. The only thing that ever bothered me when I lived in Woodbine was the traffic jam from 24th to Macleod every morning. You elminate that and it is worth it.

I would think so too, but want to hear a professional opinion. That little jam is why I leave home at 6 and get back by 4.
