So my buddy owes me a favor for some work I did for him. Long story short, it's just above $400 and he's agreed to buy me a bottle (or multiple) as payment. The Canadian Club 40 seems interesting. Any other bottles for me to consider?
The intention to acquire these bottles would be to put them away for specific milestone celebrations. Not something to consume immediately.

Do you have a link? LCBO online has none. I've been checking almost daily. Today there were 3 bottles at a store in Hamilton, but that's 3 hours away and they won't reserve. I'm getting frustrated

If anyone want to buy me a new advent calendar, I won't complain. I enjoyed last year's.

The new Wine and Beyond liquor store in Sage Hill has bottles of Laphroaig Quarter Cask selling at $39.95 right now compared to around $80 at other liquor stores. Seems like a great deal but I don't know what the scotch is like. It sounds like it is a fairly easily drinking scotch but with a pretty strong finish.

Laphraoig quarter cask is a pretty peated whiskey, with a little extra smoke from being aged in a small cask.
Forty dollars is nearly 20 dollars under cost, so a very good buy if you can get it. With a loss leader like that, I wouldn't expect it to last long.

I have a huge respect for Laphroaig single malts and am a proud shareholder and 1 sq.ft. owner of Laphroaig Distillery . But seriously, one has to REALLY like peat and smoke to like Laphroaig Quarter Cask. Because there's nothing else left to be tasted in it. Yes, it's cheap.
Lagavulin 16 is a much, much better choice for a peat & smoke lover. It has plenty of both but complemented by a ton of great flavour from an old bourbon oak cask. The quintessential single malt to have in anyone's liquor cabinet. And the price is still very reasonable at Costco and Superstore.

For those looking for the CC 40Yr in Calgary, just came back from Willow Park, and they got a couple cases in, $229 for a bottle.

Thinking of opening one for Christmas this winter and saving the rest. I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake buying these...

You all need to join the Scotch Malt Whiskey Tasting Society
All single malt, all single cask whisky, all pretty delicious.

Nice. How did you get 4 bottles? They only allowed one per person here.

Yep, I drank some as soon as I brought the bottle home! Super smooth. I’m not a seasoned vet in the Scotch/Whiskey world yet, but I found it to be very good!
