I'd put Vice up against any tour level ball.

Also interested in the cost and quality, if the are similar to chrome soft I could be interested.

I like Vice balls - but have found Cut balls even better (cutgolfco.com).

I bought 7 dozen Cut Blue (a four piece urethane ball) for roughly $28cdn per dozen, shipping in. I did contact them directly to do it, but they were very helpful as they don’t show Cdn shipping on their site.

The balls themselves: they play almost exactly like Prov1x but are more durable. Very, very good spin on irons and chips, but solid off the driver. In terms of bite on the greens, I think the Cut Blues may be the best I’ve ever tried.

There are also some other versions - grey, white, etc. The grey is the other urethane - it’s a three piece ball, a lot less spin than the blue but feels softer like a chrome soft.

I most recently played Srixon ZXVs, and before that I played chrome softs - the Cut Blue is easily as good as both, and is more durable. I do like the XVs off the driver the best, but not so much that the price difference would ever make me go back.

I also have tried the Kirklands - both 3 and 4 piece. Both are great balls, but I’d take the Cut Blue over them too. There’s my sales pitch! Anyway, you absolutely will not be disappointed if you give them a try - they are nearly identical to the Prov1x in performance.

What sucks about Vice 5 dozen deal is that they will not let you mix and match anymore, it has to be 5 dozen of the same model and colour.

I was part of 2 group buys for Vice golf balls. Ended up to be about $70 for 2 dozen after exchange rate and shipping. With the current exchange rate, I'm guessing it will be under $75 for 2 dozen.

I'd be interested in a dozen of the Vice Pro Soft...but in the neon lime colour. I might be interested in an umbrella as well.

Review for Wolf Creek? Is it worth driving 2 hrs from Calgary to play the 2 18's? Which one is better?

The old course @ Wolf is pretty good. The new one is unremarkable.

Both Wolf Creek courses showed up on the Scoregolf Top 100 courses which were just released (Links course #68 and Old course #83)

Given the subjective nature of these rankings ymmv, but a good day of golf can certainly be had at Wolf Creek.

I find wolfcreek is a very difficult course. if you wander off the fairway, it can be very difficuilt to find your ball.

to me innisfail is a much nicer layout.

but i suppose if you are a scratch golfer, you might prefer wolfcreek for the challenge

I really loved the Old Course at Wolf Creek, the Links Course was meh. Both courses are tough though

Haven't played with nearly as much consistency this year. Have only managed 6 rounds so far.

The last couple years I've managed to eliminate most mistakes. Scores have definitely taken a hit because of the lack of playing.

Par or better %:

2014 - 42.9%
2015 - 46.4%
2016 - 42.4%
2017 - 44.6%
2018 - 33.4%

Average Score

2014 - 86.2
2015 - 84.1
2016 - 85.3
2017 - 84.0
2018 - 87.0

I’ve had a similar season:
Handicap at the end of last season was 7.6
Currently at a 10.4

Most of my rounds have been around 90 lately. My new bag does not seem to have paid off.

Started playing in 2014.

2015 - 97.2
2016 - 95.8
2017 - 99.4
2018 - 97.2

Interestingly though, standard deviation of scores (in strokes per par):

2015 - 0.0585
2016 - 0.0666
2017 - 0.0692
2018 - 0.0525

I played 22 rounds in 2015 but only 12 in 2016 and 10 in 2017. I've worked a lot on my drive and it seems to show in consistency. I'm trying to play more this year to get more consistently low to mid 90s, but the 99/100 scores definitely push the average. But 100 is the worst score I've posted.

How many rounds did you play in 2014 - 2017?

59 rounds is like every third day! I don't think you'll quite get there this year. Impressive how well you've maintained despite slowly playing less.

Had a chat with a member of my golf course this morning. He told me his son played in the Mens 2 day Scramble on the weekend and won $10'000 for getting a hole in one on hole #8. Turns out the young man is also getting married this weekend and the money will come in quite handy.

That course is such a test. It was in fine shape.

Only downside is the area around the second and third holes is being developed, so it is noisy.
