For Italian, I don't know if it is open, but it was mentioned in this thread that the group that own Purileau in Oakridge were taking over that Italian place by the old point and feather.

The Carolina style restaurant is South Block. It is located where Wurst used to be, and opened ~4 wks ago
Been there once. It was decent
They have a number of their own beers. Tons of Bourbon, about 80 I’d say. Then another ~150 (?) whiskeys. Some pretty spendy Pappy van Winkle and Michters

Im assuming that South Block's specialty is pork then? Comery is chicken and Hayden (my personal fave) is brisket.

I think the styles also have a lot to do with the available sauces. Or at least I would assume. Carolina is more vinegary IIRC. I have only been to Hayden so I can't vouch for the sauces at the other places.

Hayden is Texas style. Comery is West-Tennessee.
Comery has had better brisket than Hayden the last fews times.

Anyone gone to Mikey's on 12th during happy hour/live music? 3 of us who share season tickets want to go and discuss what we want to do for upcoming season and just catch up. Will we be able to find a table and hold a conversation?

I thought their feature item was Nashville hot chicken? I haven't been since the pandemic started, do maybe it changed.

4 sauces at south block.
A regular, a hot, a mustard and a blueberry sauce
The hot is a bit vinegary

I haven't been to Mikey's in the beltline but went to the store on 4th Street in the NW and the tacos are fantastic, by Calgary standards.

+1
Very hole in the wall type place, but good. No real seating. Try the sopes.
Edited to add: referring to NW location here, haven't been to beltline.

So FYI for the curious; Went there on Friday during live music and it was LOUD inside. Considering we went for the Tacos and to catch up, we moved outside and it was great. Music was a good volume out there and we could hold a conversation. As always, the tacos were great. I've had them at the NW location and beltline now.

I ate there last year and we really enjoyed it. I thought it was quite good, although at this point I can't remember what I ordered!
