I love how the race walk lead pack is literally the same people as a few days ago. Our same group of rogues...

Mustache... Titled hat... Lanky ginger... Neck band... Specs. They're all here!

Edit: oh and I can't forget Their archenemy Nasal bandage!

Pure carnage.

Ahmed went down with 1 lap to go, then 4 more guys tangled and went down on the final lap. Pushing and shoving afterwards.

Fafard advances to the final after his 8th place finish.

Flanagan well back and is out.

Obviously thats not really the case because I think they're 'Gold-Plated' at best and the tradition has morphed from there, but I thought that was the original intent?

The Men’s C1 1000m starts at 03:40 with Connor Fitzpatrick in Heat 4.

I think Connor has advanced to the semis.

DeGrasse just finished 3rd in his SF heat. Appears he didn't automatically qualify, but still sitting in a decent position.

De Grasse eliminated with a very slow time in the semis. Time for him to retire and let someone younger have a chance.

Aaron Brown even slower. Terrible showing for the Canadian sprinters. Brendon Rodney is our last chance for a medal.

Brutal, DeGrasse out. Just didn't have it these Olympics it seems. Hopefully he can at least go out on a good note in the 4×100m

EDIT: and Rodney struggles too. Clean sweep of Canadian disappointment in the SF. It appears Canada's run of great male sprinters the previous 2 Olympics is over.

There was no legitimate sprinting threat for Canada this time around. Father time and all. As expected really

DeGrasse just said on CBC he's suffering from a re-aggravated hamstring injury. Says he should be good for the relays tomorrow, we'll see..

Yeah very few sprinters that are 30+ can remain competitive with the top of the field. De Grasse is 30 in November, Rodney is 32, and Brown is 32. These should be the last games for all three.

I don't think we've ever had a top female sprinter? At least to the best of my recollection.

No individual Women’s Sprinting medal since 1932. Silver in 4x100m in 1984 is the most recent.
