A lot was made about the men's basketball team not having a true center, but it produced such a trickledown effect when the PFs were playing C, and we had 6'6 forwards playing at PF all the time, which also took them away from guarding on the perimeter. And there aren't any easy answers to that, and with all four bigs on the roster being 28+, you can't count on any of them next cycle. Yeah, next cycle hopefully they'll have Edey at C (I'm skeptical that 7'9 Rioux pans out), but even if that is the case, PF still could end up being a hole, there's only a handful of NBA PFs out there. Hopefully, the guard rotation is even stronger with SGA and Barrett still in their prime, improvement from Nembhard, and Sharpe/Mathurin hopefully in the mix. Murray didn't have it this year, and I'm not sure how he looks in 4 years... His game just isn't a great fit for the role we need.
But back to the problem of bigs, best case scenario: Edey ends up being a beast (who's game will be suited even more for FIBA than NBA); Rioux ends up being playable and stays healthy, if not as an NBA player at least as an international dude; Leonard Miller and OMP develop into quality rotational forwards with decent size; they recruit dual-citizen (Swiss/Canadian) Kyshawn George, who's more of a guard but with great positional size; and then they add Paul Osaruyi, who will only be 20 in 2028, but is a top-5 ranked prospect in his class and exactly the sort of player this team needs at PF. That's a lot of things that have to go right... hopefully at least some of them do.
edit: and France, for what it's worth, is only going to get taller next cycle... they have so many big wings and guards coming into the NBA, they could realistically have a 2028 team where they have excellent size at every single position.

Rick Westhead says FIBA Refs are his next investigation. Not sure if he's being facetious or not... but there's definitely smoke there.

I think it's sour grapes. I watched the whole game, when you're in the paint more, you're going to get more calls. Also, you're not beating anyone shooting 35%

I mean there's no doubt Canada lost because of guys like Brooks and Murray no showing, but France has had some suspect officiating go its way the whole tournament. And they'll need more of it to have any chance against Germany. But at this point I hope they go prime David Stern, seeing France play the Americans in the final and having LeBron, Durant, Booker, Embiid getting ejected in the first 10 seconds of the game would be GOAT ####.

Surfing is not a great spectator sport. What a dumb final.. one guy doesn’t even get two scores in because there were no waves.

What are you using to watch it?
If you are on a streaming device look for an option called broadcast delay. That might help.

You'd think that instead of leaving it to chance they'd get one of those fake-surf tanks that they have at water parks.

It was a brutal watch for the final day. Waves were too small so the competitors went into strategy and protection mode. When the waves are big and firing it’s sooooooo much better.
Can’t control the ocean.
That said pretty stoked for the local boy to win it all, it’s like a plot from every family friendly Disney movie
