Morales-Williams toast in the 400m. Not a good couple of days for Canada :/

Said it in the prelim round, but they were never winning anything if Murray was a non-factor. Can't have your second best scorer doing nothing and expect to win. Pretty bad loss cause France were mostly ass too, even with the homecooking a C- effort wins the game instead of the F they gave.

Well means USA can cakewalk to the Gold. Dunno what to feel here. At least our big names showed up for once.... better luck in 2028 I guess.

Some beefy women in the hammer throw... Pretty crazy if we win gold again.

Lol US was cakewalking to gold no matter what, they would have annihilated Canada had they played, 20+ point win minimum. US is still miles ahead of everyone else. Three point shooting has equalized things a bit, but overall this is still not particularly close for who is best. US should still be considered 99.5% favorites to win gold every Olympics.

Rogers is apparently ranked #1 in the world, so she definitely has a shot at gold. Maybe hammer throw will become a Canadian specialty

Rogers had the best throw, 74.11m after the first throw but the Chinese girl just passed her on throw #2

The polish girl has the world record of 82.98 but that was 8 years ago in Rio. She's a legend, 3-time defending champ

We really need a couple bigs in 2028 to work the glass against players like Wembanyama. Hopefully Zach Edey develops into a star player.

How does this work, the top 8 get another 3 throws? But any of the six throws can count as the best?

FIBA court is 8 inches narrower and like a foot or so shorter. But the illegal defense rules are also a little less strict in FIBA

Canada never had the size to compete with the US. Not particularly surprised at this result.

Funny that Gobbert sat most of the game. Ewing Theory in effect.
