I think they lack development outside a few sports. Once a superstar Canadian is older (e.g., De Grasse), there is no one in the wings ready to take over... so you gotta wait until someone new pops up.

Seems like surfing has been postponed until at least 2:30 this afternoon.

Today is the last day the contest can be run.

Waves are meant to be clean and nice this afternoon. Should be great surfing on display

“Round 1 of the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase begins at 11:04 with Jean-Simon Desgagnes in Heat 3.”

He finished fifth and qualifies for the final on Wednesday.

By 3 hundredths of a second over sixth.

If the race was 1/2 meter longer, he would have been 6th.

Individual Jumping for Equestrian took 30 to the final; Mario Deslauriers for Canada finished 31st. Ouch.

“Round 1 of the Men’s 200m sprint starts at 11:55. Brendon Rodney is in Heat 3, Aaron Brown is in Heat 5. Defending Gold Medalist Andre De Grasse is in Heat 6.“

Brendon Rodney ran out of gas at the end and finishes fourth, missed automatic qualification for the semis.

Dang, Rodney for Canada was in 2nd place of his 200m heat the entire race until literally the last second. Gets passed by 2 right at the finish line, they both qualify and he misses out by 0.01 of a second. Impressive run before the end anyway.

The last games were so great for Canadian runners. Hoping they can still medal in one of the remaining events.

They're all over 30 (Warner included). Where is our next wave of runners?

We do have the World Champion in the mens 800m (Marco Arop). He should end up on the podium.

Great finish by DeGrasse to qualify, that was basically the reverse of Rodney's race.

Going to be tough to beat Lyles, but at least De Grasse goes through.

I thought this was supposed to be an "equal games"?

Zero men competing in artistic swimming. Piers Morgan must be turning in his grave.

Boy, it's crazy tough for an Olympic athlete to make their mark! Games every 4 years, and with youth seemingly being one of the most important factors related to performance, they have essentially 2 games to make an impact? Insane.

Or be like Clara Hughes and participate in both the Summer and Winter Games.

Track and field planning meeting:

Guy #1: okay, so we’re going to have these athletes run a couple miles, then every so often they have to hurdle a short fence.

Guy #2: sounds great! But it feels like we’re missing something.

Guy #3: hello? Puddles.

Applause. Guy #4: that’s why they pay Bob the big bucks.

The Women’s 200m Semifinals should start at 12:45.

Both Canadian women performed poorly, finishing 6th and 7th in their races.
