Jeez, Thompson won his heat easily and even shut it down with a few meters to go, wonder what his time would have been if he went all out to the end.

DeGrasse finishes 3rd in his heat and moves on.......a little too close for comfort.

Bad News Germany. The Canadians are coming.

Last time that happened on French soil it didn't go so well for you.

Degrasse is in extremely hard to medal in the 100m and even in the 200m but still a shot at the podium in 200m.

Disappointing with the DQ of Aaron Brown

The women swimmers are into the 4x100 relay final qualifying with the second fastest time with an impressive final lag from Oleksiak.

And now out of the medal hunt after failing to clear a pole vault, big strategical error.

Enjoying seeing the countryside during this road race. They’re cycling along and all of the sudden a farmer harvesting in his Massey Ferguson combine passes across the screen.

I’m sure there are reasons but the tennis schedule isn’t making sense to me. Having the men’s doubles bronze match after the gold seems puzzling. Not closing it out with Alcaraz-Djokovic also seems strange.

If I understand the qualification system, the upcoming men's basketball game between Serbia and Sudan has pretty important implications for Canada.
Canada ranks 3rd after pool play, and would face the lowest ranked of the 2nd place finishers, but can't play Australia as they were in the same pool. If Serbia wins today Canada will play France. If South Sudan wins (by less than 9) Canada plays South Sudan.

Today there are not enough screens.

America advances with a late goal in ET1 to defeat Japan 1-0
Canada will play US if they win today against France

Qinwen Zheng wins the gold medal in women's tennis defeating Donna Vekic of Croatia 6-2 6-3. Great run to the gold medal defeating Iga on her favorite court in the process.

Looks like I'm going to have to do double duty with the women's footy match on the big screen and watching Felix on the laptop

Yeah, that's right.

In the 2000 Olympics, a loss to France in the quarterfinals was what ended that run after a great group stage, so nothing would be more fitting for this generation than a win over France in the quarterfinals. But yeah, that would be an exceptionally tough game, and if South Sudan could pull off the upset today, that would be better for Canada's medal chances.

Serbia could ensure that they wouldn't see the US before the gold medal match with a loss today, but at the cost of a tougher opponent in the quarterfinals. It's probably not something that comes into play for them.
