Yeah amazed she came in 4th, she looked pretty far behind for most of it. Impressive push at the end!
I'm so glad my gym has a pool, can't wait to get in there after watching this the past couple hours.

And the women continue to carry Canada in the olympics. So many impressive performances by Canadian women again!

Our Sheila's always dominate at the Olympics. I wonder why the men always tend to fall short?

No such thing as a slam dunk, I'll always remember that Canadian women's hurdler who was the runaway favorite for gold tripping over the first hurdle in her final. Anything can happen.

That was Perdita Felicien, who has been on the cbc commentary team again this Olympics. I remember that disappointment. Jeremy wotherspoon (speed skating) comes to mind as well as someone that had mega high expectations and didn’t perform at the olympics.
So much pressure, and great to see Summer McIntosh rise to the occasion and blow everyone out of the water

One could rightly dispute this statement as of course it isn't quite so simple, but: men are competing against the entire world; women are competing against the other prosperous nations of the world.

Much rougher, bigger waves today for Men's surfing.
A bit scary out there, actually.

I don't think it is so much prosperity as the relative funding of men's vs women's sports in different countries. So maybe "progressive" is a better word than "prosperous."

I honestly think it starts younger.
The best young male athletes in Canada get funneled into hockey at a young age, and then get into hockey specific training and don't always try other sports.
The best young female athletes tend to play a wider variety of sports and try different things.

I was trying to post something similar without sounding sexist. I think it is true to some extent that our men are generally competing in a much deeper pool.
