Recently? EA has been no good for like a decade now.

He didn't officially retire until the end of July last year. Because of that, I would bet his inclusion last year was still governed under the NHLPA licensing agreement.

Now that he has officially retired, his inclusion would be governed under the Alumni Association's licensing agreement. If he hasn't signed off on the Alumni Association's agreement, they probably can't use him in the game until he does.

This is from the Alumni association's website (https://nhlalumni.org/about):
Quote:
NHLAA INITIATIVES

The NHLAA's Mission Statement is to 'Honor the Past'. In June 2017, we launched the NHL Alumni Association's group license program. The group license program enables the NHLAA to use the collective personality rights of members in the marketplace for the benefit of NHLAA programs. Currently, over 1000 members have signed on to the Alumni's group license program, including the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Ray Bourque, Patrick Roy, Steve Yzerman, Jean Beliveau, Mats Sundin, Teemu Selanne, Johnny Bower and nearing 100 other Hall of Famers.

As a result of this program, the NHLAA has been able to foster positive business relationships with over 20 licensees, partners and sponsors including Scotiabank, Molson-Coors, Corby Spirit and Wine/ J.P. Wiser's, Rogers Communications, Upper Deck and EA Sports.

Beyond the Group license Program, the NHLAA utilizes other key initiatives to support Alumni members, including: player appearances, pro-am tournaments, career transition program, annual stick auction, NHLAA Benefit Hockey Tour and much more.

Well Olli Jokinen was decent in the shootout and great at hitting the post. Not sure about having him on the all-time Flames alumni team.

Where's Chris Butler?

List of players I saw didn’t include Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Rocket Richard. So these may be alumni teams but obviously not all time greatest teams.

Lindros is apparently not on the Flyers' alumni roster.

It just occurred to me that this might only include active members of each teams Alumni Club, or whatever they might have. If you didn't pay your dues, no EA team for you.

Maybe you have to play a certain amount, unlock the Quebec Nordiques Alumni Team before he shows up on Philly's Roster?
