"Hot chick"?
Really?
No wonder it's hard for women to get ahead in this world.
I'd be happy for a competent woman, regardless of what she looks like. Knowledgeable and well-spoken would be good, and a nice balance.

Lets be honest though. There's generally a common theme between all the female sports anchors and analysts. 90% of them are, shall we say, aesthetically pleasing to the male audience. Sports networks understand their core audience, so they cater to them. That's the reality.

Will be interesting to see where he lands next. I agree this is likely a cost cutting move. Happening everywhere right now.

Is it happening with TSN? They don't have the national contract so you could excuse them from cutting a lot of talent but you never see them let go of their long tenured NHL guys.

Not an insider, not a hockey analyst, just an Oiler shill. Good riddance.

Shannon seems like a nice guy but I will never know how he got that gig as he just doesn't bring a lot of great insight. As for Kypreos I used to dislike him initially when he started out trying way too hard with that Skip Bayless hot take approach but over time he did improve to the point I went from hating, to tolerating, to accepting. Maybe he ends up with a US network like NBC?

Define good for Kypreos? I'm sure every single one of us on here would be better on the panel than he was.
I mean I would sure love a job that would give me 12 years probationary period to get "good". haha

All I really know about him is that he used to be a TV exec and ran HNIC for a time.
I can only assume he called in a favor or pulled some strings but it was embarrassing for a sports network to try and honestly introduce him as a hockey insider. Worse how he was always in Edmonton, reporting on the team, covering the team, and passing himself off as the above as well as impartial.

This is what I was getting at.
It IS the current year, so perhaps the term "hot chick" was a misplay.
Keep in mind that the competition is Steve Dangle, so we're setting the bar for "knowledgeable and well-spoken" at "YouTube influencer".

Have never liked him, good riddance. And John Shannon should be shot into the sun. He's absolutely terrible.

Fair enough on the misplay.
However, encouraging only "aesthetically pleasing" women does a disservice to many who are far more knowledgeable and engaging. Frankly, Kypreos and Friedman are no beauties, so not sure what's so wonderful about them...or actually any of the peeps on the panel from that perspective. I get that networks like that approach, but we don't need to encourage it. (I have grown daughters....and I want them to have a fair shot at anything they want to do.)

It would have been a garbage way to end his run anyway. He should have a swan song.

Kypreos has good sources. He often beats the TSN guys (including MacKenzie) for trades.

Good. SN and sports coverage in general needs new voices. I hope, if Kypreos is replaced, he is replaced by an unfamiliar face.
