"decided to part ways"

I assume one side made the decision first.

Yeah that always reads as "they decided they're not going to pay me anymore, so I've decided I'm not going to go to work there anymore."

I'm thinking someone went all Ron Maclean and said "pay me what I think I'm worth" and the other side said "there is the door"

Since he has no other gig, it's clear who it was.

I can see Burkie being his replacement on the panel.

I have no doubt that in a cost saving move, Sportsnet will replace him with Steve Dangle.

I enjoyed him in the role, much more than I did in his prior broadcasting gigs.
Will be interesting to see where he lands next. I agree this is likely a cost cutting move. Happening everywhere right now.

Sounds like John Shannon won't be back either. According to this guy. He is usually money when it comes to the Toronto Sports Media.

^ Won't lie, I would love to see Shannon get canned.

Not an insider, not a hockey analyst, just an Oiler shill. Good riddance.

TBH I like Steve Dangle more

I bet Sportsnet replaces Kyper with a hot chick. They've got a woman filling in for Sid Seixeiro that's a solid 9.

I think it took Kypreos at least 10 or 12 years to get good, but he has been quite good for the last 7 or 8 years. Of course cheap Sportsnet cans him now, so they can start the process over and have someone new learn on the job for a decade so that they can save some money.

Or no one.

No one is cheaper.

I think Kypreos has really become good at the role and offers good insights.

Shannon? He can die in a tire fire for all I care. Preferably one in Edmonton.

Guess now I’ll have to rely on HF for my dose of awful takes from guys who only care about the Oilers, Habs, and Leafs.

I think Kypreos is a good dude, he came off like a blowhard in his earlier SN gigs which may have been the instruction from the producers. It felt like they were trying match American style panelists with him and Doug MacLean. Once he'd settled into his role on the HNIC panel he was much better. Didn't agree with all his takes but for the most part he had some good insights.

I really couldn't stand Kypreos. Maybe he got better but I have been more-or-less tuning him out for years. To each their own of course and have nothing against him as a person.
