Hopefully the Ship and Anchor fares better with the higher priority team. I'm a little surprised they are still doing it if they lost a bunch of money though. Would be nice if the team helped out a little, since this is definitely one of the 'solutions' to the location of the pitch being so remote.

It would be even nicer if people actually supported the places that are doing these things for the club. Give the Ship and Anchor a reason to continue organizing busses to Cavalry games, by filling that bus and buying beers and food in their bar.
I think the Ship offer will have tremendous success, but people also need to remember that to have a setup like this, there has to be some financial reward for the bars that are doing it. Or else the setup disappears. And then people go back to bitching about ticket prices.

Don't worry. We'll keep bitching about them. But I'll be trying out the pub/bus as well. I like that initiative, and I agree that the pubs won't keep doing it if it doesn't make sense for them. I've done away days in the UK, and the pub and bus are a big part of the fun.
Perhaps a silly question, but because the Ship is kid-friendly, would there be any rule against bringing a 7-year-old along for pub/bus/match (paid, of course)? The pub and soccer culture isn't a problem - my kids knows what swears and beer are as he's got 1/2 English blood. Just wondering if that would be frowned upon by the organizers. I can handle the silent judgment of strangers.

Well, taking the bus from the Ship would literally double my trip time to a game, so I'm out, but it is a nice option for people up north
As far as ticket price complaints go, the Southerns had best get used to them. If you look at what's available on Ticketmaster for all games other than the home opener, there's nothing selling beyond what season ticket holders already bought. There's no advance demand, and I think that ticket prices are one of the biggest reasons.

The Spruce Meadows organization has very good corporate partners with the other large events they do. I hope they can capitalize on those relationships and get some seats filled. My Remax real estate agent still sends complimentary show jumping tickets to me annually.

I hope Cavalry's defence is better than Hamilton's! That's a shaky start.

That pitch looks terrible
I'm looking forward to this starting up. It will be nice to go to live games again. What does the pricing and ticket demand look like?

It does look cold and windy there, but that looks like a soulless bowl. I think they’re reducing the seating there normally (?) and hopefully that helps. This is basically what we’d have had at McMahon though, so thankfully we have something that seems much better.

This is actually a really good game... a bit sloppy, but that's to be expected with this being the inaugural game and all. In a way, with the large stadium and the crowd, almost feels like an MLS game.

Quality is better than I expected. Makes me even more excited for next weekend.
Bekker looks like trash. Bad miss, poor passes, and what should have been a straight red.
York9 goalie Ingham has impressed me.

Quality first game IMO. Forge were clearly the better side, and would have won with better finishing. Decent crowd given the conditions.

Ingham was actually the backup keeper on Calgary Foothills last year. He's one of the better keepers in the league IMO.

I thought that was a quality inaugural match. I find it fascinating to see how each team stacks up. Is one club gonna be head and shoulders above the rest? Are there any teams that are gonna struggle? So hard to predict with brand new clubs in a brand new league.

Its late April, what do you possibly think it should look like?
That pitch is in fantastic shape. Go checkout Broadview for some perspective.
