Hes done it before in Carolina.. if not him what do you suggest?

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin-Hamonic
Valimaki-Kylington

Kylington has played some right side in the past as well.

Rewatched game 4 of flames/avs last night. Valamaki was great, Hanafin not. Really wonder if they should try Valamaki with Hamanic this year and move down Hanafin with Brodie as the 5/6.

Re-watched game 4? Oh god why would you do that to yourself?

I do agree with your point tho, made no sense to have Fantenberg play over him in the first several games.

Guy was solid all season and because of 1 game he should be demoted? Should move johhny and sean down to 4th line too.

Hanafin should never be on the 3rd pairing - his overall play is too good.

Well Valimaki will be a top 4 D soon if he isn’t already. We have a bit of an embarrassment on riches at LHD with

Gio
Hanifin
Valimaki
Kylington

At some point we’ll have a top 4 caliber dman on every pairing on the left side. It’s great.

People are over valuing this defense insanely if we are talking about Brodie/Hanifin 3rd pairing.

Brodie will be paired with Gio again, Hanifin and Hamonic will each take a youngster

Has Valimaki had his knee surgery yet? Is there any word on the extent of the damage and projected recovery time?

Sadly I think we saw this week that it's still being delayed to have the swelling come down.

I think we have to look at him playing next year. This is most likely a lost season for him.

Just gotta hope that he goes injury free the next couple seasons.

Wow, and here I thought the initial news release said he was likely to miss the whole year.

It was originally announced as "indefinite". They were waiting until after he has the surgery to give a solid timeline of recovery.

Here's the interview Treliving did on the radio just after it was announced: https://www.sportsnet.ca/960/pinder-...very-timeline/

The first step was to get him to Calgary, which it sounds like has happened. Next is getting the surgery scheduled and done. Then, they'll have a better idea of the recovery timeline.

It was during training. No specifics that I know of, or if it was on skates.

Those dryland training regiments the players follow during the off season are usually pretty intense. Could've just landed funny while jumping, for instance.

Pretty common theme with Darryl in his assessments of the players on this team.

Complacency seems to be the big problem.

Complacency or mental toughness.

They get knocked out of their synch too easily ... no ability to play through adversity.

I’m sure he will eventually figure it out. But, I have been underwhelmed watching his game over the course of this season. He shows the odd sign here and there, but nothing that has him as a definitive future top pairing dman. Losing a couple of years of development has hampered his progress. He certainly had gotten a long leash by the coaches prior to the last couple of weeks.
