Love beating the Red Sox.

Nice to see Vladdy take what was given to him rather than chase outside the zone.

He is going to see maybe 1 or 2 balls to hit per at bat, like others have said, be more selective. He has (had?) the bat speed to catch up to balls outside the zone so he chases bad stuff.

Watching Sogard lead off these days is a thing of beauty. So patient and makes the pitcher work. Another 8 or 9 pitches for his at bat today. Gives the rest of the batters an idea of what they’re up against, and, oh yeah, gets on base. He’s been phenomenal this year.

Cleveland is in the wild card spot right now, and San Fran has pulled into wild card contention. If that takes Bumgarner and Bauer off the trade bait board, the Jays should be in great position to cash in on Stroman.

Jansen shaves his moustache in between at bats and proceed to rip and RBI single. Baseball is hilarious sometimes.

Jays are pacing to lose 100 games. There are 3 and by year end could be 4 teams worse than they are in the American League. So many bad teams.

Dodgers giving up 5 runs in the 8th tonight should help the Jays on Giles front.

Some analyst was noting that come playoff time relievers who can get outs in the 8th and 9th inning 3-4 times in a series in the playoffs become more valuable than a guy like Stroman who might be a game 3 or 4 starter on a playoff team.

Dodgers might like to have a guy like Giles to help them finigh games when it really counts.

Encouraging signs from Vlad:

Quote:
First-pitch slider for a tough strike. Second-pitch sinker way inside for a ball. Third-pitch sinker on the inner half for four RBIs. He got every bit of it, lining the ball 441-feet over the left-centre field wall at 108 m.p.h. It was his fifth hit in eight plate appearances. The fourth time in that span he’s put a ball in play at 99 m.p.h. or harder. Oh, and it tied a ballgame.

Most likely he'll be traded since it's reported multiple teams are interested in him and Sogard.

I'm much more comfortable them getting dealt than Giles and Stroman. I think we'll be disappointed with the return for both which is why I'm not so eager for them to get dealt.

I feel pretty certain the Astros will be going after Stroman hard since he has another year in his deal. That really fits their profile of acquisitions. Question is whether it will take Kyle Tucker to get it done. Highly rated outfield prospect but Astro fans aren’t super high on him because he hasn’t looked good in the bigs yet.

I’ll be curious if a contender gets Giles to close for them. He can’t be trusted IMO and is a great pitcher on a bad team.

I think you move Hudson and Sogard for whatever assets you can get at this point, both are found money.

I would probably lump Smoak into that group as well, though I wouldn't be totally opposed to bring him back. His defense will make a big difference when you look how young and inexperienced the rest of the infield is with Vladdy, Bichette and Biggio, having Smoak over there to cover their mistakes would make a big difference. Plus who knows if Tellez can hit enough to keep him in the bigs.

I think you need to get high end arms for Stroman and Giles. The Jays have a few middle to the bottom end of the rotation guys in the system but no top end arms in the system, maybe Pearson and Pardinho, but they are still a ways away, and I am not convinced that Peasron can be starter and not wear his arm out.

The Jays have to sit on Sanchez for another year and hope to get his game back. If they weren't so desperate for starters I would suggest putting him in the bullpen, where his fastball/curveball combo would be much stronger.

Smoak with the tying home run in the bottom of 9 tonight then comes up with 2 on in bottom 10 and singles for the walk off.

I kind of hope they re-sign him. He's a really good 1B and the infield is going to be so young next season with Vlad, Biggio and Bichette. Smoak is also a pretty consistent .750ish OPSer.

Nice little walkoff by the Jays. Always like it when they beat Francona and the Indians. I Still have a little bit of resentment from 2016 when Andrew Miller went god mode and embarrassed the Jays.
