Maybe you could fashion a screen out wire mesh and attach it from the inside with gorilla glue or something.

Im not sure how much it would cost to bring in a contractor with a reach truck to do the job.
I rented a man lift from an Airdrie outfit. They delivered it and I used it for two days and they came and picked it back up. $250

Microwaves have vents to the outside? That's new to me.

Assuming that's correct, just go to Superstore and buy a pack of ghost peppers. They stock them regularly now.

Put a few in a bowl with water and nuke them for a few minutes a couple times a day. At some point, the birds will just leave for a better home. The fumes would be unbearable.

Protip: Don't eat the peppers.

Quite common to have outside vented hood fans these days, it might even be code not sure though. Especially when gas stoves are used, to vent moisture.

as a complete aside, that seems really cheap to me - I'd expect $250 per day for a rig like that.

at that price it might be fund to rent one just for fun/backyard bungee jump?
