Monahan + 1st seems like a lot to give up without something else coming back, but I don't see us picking anywhere close to the top end of the draft with this team. If we did, I imagine this 1st will be lottery protected anyways.

2023 is supposed to be super deep year.

at least if we trade florida's pick (which is lottery protected anyways) Calgary will still have their own first round pick instead of no first round pick in 24 or 25

Hard to imagine a 2025 Florida team with Barkov, Tkachuk and Ekblad in their prime being a lottery team. Suspect that pick is in the teens at best.
