Also, the soup nazi from Seinfeld plays the blackjack dealer.

Austin Powers is interesting because that culture phenomenon didn't start at the box office but with DVD sales. Some people saw the first one, those people loved it spread word of mouth and massive DVD sales... than The Spy Who Shagged Me was massive.
But yeah, the franchise was huge. It directly lead to Casino Royale taking a more serious approach forcing them to ditch the cliche and ever increasing silliness of the Bronson lead Bond

Matrix Resurrections was incredibly disappointing. Some very cool scenes, and I liked some of the characters but there was no story there for a movie.

Saw the new Matrix. It was pretty bad.
Literally the best scene in the movie was when they made explicitly clear that the makers of this movie thought another Matrix movie is a bad idea and they have no actually new ideas.
I'm not kidding, they literally talk about "Matrix 4" inside the movie and how the studio is going to do this no matter what.
Then that idea goes nowhere just like every other idea in this movie goes nowhere and the rest is repetitive and not that exciting action scenes, endless monologues that don’t actually have anything interesting to say, the plot/story is just an incredible mess and makes no sense...
So you know, it's a Matrix sequel. Some of the visuals are pretty nice so the movie gets a 2/5 for that.
Would not recommend, for hardcore fans only. Not a great movie made by people who, I repeat, literally are saying in the movie that they did not want to make this movie.
Just rewatch the first one.

They even mention Warner Brothers. Kind of an insult to everyone watching it frankly and leaves you with a bad taste.

Well I'll be the judge of that!
Its one of those love it or hate it meta experiences. Heard a variety of takes on it. So we'll see. Just waiting for my friend to get out of isolation to go.

It's not THAT meta. It's only meta for like 30 minutes or so in the beginning, and that was absolutely the only good part of the movie.
Then it's just a bad Matrix sequel the rest of the way, and that first part of the movie has basically nothing to do with the rest. Although that's not saying much because no part of the movie has much to do with any other part. You could just cut out random chunks of this movie and it would still make as much sense. The first part also has most of the ambitious visual ideas, and the only somewhat good action, underlining just how much they didn't actually care about the rest of the movie.
I know not everyone hates it, but personally I wish people don't pay money to watch this movie, because it's exactly what the movie says it is; an uninspired sequel that was only made because the Matrix brand is money.
They will keep making bad cash grab movies like this as long as people go watch bad cash grab sequels of movies they likes 20 years ago.
You can't go watch this and then complain about bad and unnecessary sequels.

Yeah, please don't delve into details thanks.
You may think it's a bad cash grab and therefore divulging what you liked or didn't doesn't matter but the film and verdict is still going to get a fair shake for us who haven't seen it.
We will see.

Don’t Loom Up was excellent. I’m a big Adam McKay fan and he knocked its out of the park as usual.

Some people just stop WW2 documentaries at 1941.

Saw Matrix. It’s crap.
First 30 minutes have some kinda cool stuff in it, but it’s crap. Wait for it to show up on Netflix.

- Matrix was bad. Not awful, but loses its way under the weight of canon.
- Ghostbusters was fun, but is the family friendly “Goonies” version.
- Dune was amazing for a third of a movie.
- Bladerunner was a visually stunning if slightly plodding follow up.
Overall the trend of long haul sequals and reboots is “ok-ish” I guess.

Thought Dune was killer the whole way through. And I’ve never been able to read the books, despite being a scifi/fantasy geek through and through.

Matrix Regurgitation was awful. Wanted to like it tried to like it the more I think about it the worse it gets.

Yeah, Bladerunner 2049 is much more than ok-ish.
May be the short list of most well-crafted films of the century to this point.
