I truly believed that a Brodie for Kapanen based deal was something niether team would balk at, but with the Johanson injury sounding like its long term, that is off the table.
Just not a lot out there for a RHs/RW who the team would be able to have control on.
So depth Dman which would likely happen despite injuries.
Maybe something around Martinez/Toffoli as a package...though Im not sure BT wants to spend that much capital at the deadline. Likely be something like Bennett/prospect/2nd.

Flames and Florida work out a deal that sends a help in the top 6 to flames and little help to the D corp for the Panthers. The deal leaves no one happy. Sort of like a Hamonic for Noel Acciari deal, maybe with some spare parts thrown in to balance it out. Vatrano might be better, but it just doesn't happen.

I figured Bennett is younger and is signed for another year while Brown is an RFA after this year and would get more than Bennett is making.
Hence why I mentioned the pick from Ottawa to cover the extra expense.

I guess I'll go with the "where there is smoke there is fire" pick and say that it will be some sort of deal that brings Martinez and Toffoli to the Flames.
I don't know how you can bring in a top 4 Dman with 1.5 years left, and a rental top 6 winger in without giving up a 1st round pick, but seeing as how it's a deep draft I imagine 1st round picks are worth a lot more in most GMS eyes, and as a result they will be harder to get included in returns, especially for rentals, and even more especially from bubble teams like the Flames.

Hilarious with half the trades sending a depth d-man to Calgary, and in the other half Calgary is selling a depth d-man.
Put me in the camp that thinks Calgary should, if anything, be selling a d-man for a top 6 RW. Would love to see Toffoli (at the right price) brought in, as we could potentially re-sign him too.
