Calgary Stampede 2011
I know, I know, there are many of you not fans of the Stampede. I get that, it can be loud and obnoxious. But lots of us do enjoy Stampede, so please be respectful of that fact.
I'm a little slow on the thread this year. Year after year I go to Stampede purely for the food. What's got you guys interested here? I'm contemplating the doughnut burger.
New food to try at the Stampede this year:
Want it Deep Fried?
Deep fried Pop Tarts, Colossal Onion, Kubie Korn Balls, Calamari and 10 different flavours of Poutine!
Desserts and Drinks
The Moowich - Chocolate chip cookie, ice cream, chocolate chip cookie.
2011 Must-trys?
Turkeytini, Doughnut Burger, Pork Chop on-a-Stick
Snacks
Samosas, Kubie Korn Dog, Gourmet Pretzel Sticks
Great anytime!
Sausage Hoagie, Chicken Cheese Steak Sandwich, Mac & Cheese Pizza

The donut burger is tops on my list. I'm also intrigued by what kind of flavours of poutine they may have.

I think you can only get so crazy. I remember cricket pizza. It was a let down.

If it's just mac and cheese on a pizza crust, I'd feel gypped. If it were mac and cheese with marinara sauce, I'm totally trying it. Weird how that changes things.

Depending on the flavour of the Pop Tart, I might be willing to try that. I know I was surprised how good the Deep Fried Oreo was last year. That wasn't half bad, although after one I already felt sick.

I still love seeing Art Mann Presents when he came for the Stampede.
The best part was the one drunk dude downtown apologizing to his ex-girlfriend (and the new boyfriend) for hooking up again behind the bushes with the ex.
"Man, I SMASHED her crotch!" - classic classiness!

Deep fried Oreos are amazing. But I can't even eat all 5 or so they give you. Talk about calories, they deep fry an Oreo in like an inch of batter, then they put chocolate sauce and icing sugar. Just give me some diabetes in a bag.
I want to try the deep fried pickle, I didn't have one last year as I was too full from the Oreos.
Will go earlier this year. Last year the one Nashville (I believe) beer gardens line-up was like 500+ people. We went to the Budweiser Big Rig and there wasn't even that many people, but the line-up still took over an hour and half. The other one would take like 2 days waiting in that line.

#### yeah! Stampede bitches.
What am I going to eat this year? Beef on a Bun, Steak Sandwich, Mini Donuts and Deep Fried Oreos are automatics.
I'm gonna be B.M.F. for Stampede this year.

I wonder if they're the same deep fried pickles from Big T BBQ on Crowchild Tr. North? I seem to remember reading about them setting up shop at the Stampede, or something.
I tried one at Big T's last year, and it was awful. But I don't like pickles to begin with. The people I was with, however, seemed to think they were god's gift to the world.

Is the crazy food fad a recent thing of the Stampede, or has it always been that way? I only remember it being a big deal in the last 5 years or so. Are they bringing back alligator pizza? I missed it last year.

These are my favourite ten days of the year. I am going to get so fat and/or drunk at all the different corporate parties that are already lined up, and on top of that, it's my son's first Stampede. I can't wait to show him everything (even though he won't remember a bit of it).
