I sure hope not. Man that was a crushing blow to something I've been looking forward to for years. I've been twice which was 2 times too many.

The spicy chicken is awesome, but those biscuits are on another level. I can't wait!

Other than the biscuits, Popeye is medicore to average at best. I was excited as one opened up close to my house a few years back, in fact, it is the closest fast food to my house, and after two or three tries, I have not gone back.

The Chicken on the Way in McKenzie is the best fried chicken joint I've ever been to.
e: the biscuits from Popeye's weren't memorable, but maybe that's because I had biscuits & gravy in hipster breakfast place in Portland, which is apparently a bi biscuits & gravy town.

It's okay. Better than standard KFC.
Their "biscuit butter" or WTF they call it is terrible though.

Church's Chicken, especially the spicy stuff, has really grown on me lately. I usually stick to KFC for fast food style fried chicken, but so many locations serve soggy crap.
They'll always be something special about the gelatenous KFC gravy though...hmmm.
Popeye's was disappointing. Kind of bland.

there's no Church's currently in Calgary is there? that's the only thing that would get me even more excited than a new Popeye's.
then again, is Calgary really hurting for a new chicken joint now that we have quite a few Korean places to pick from (Olive, Yum Yum, Ogam, Wow etc). this probably would have meant a lot more to me maybe 5 years ago.

I honestly didn't think that many people would enjoy it but thank you. My kid now loves his fried chicken and I think of Popeye's every time we have KFC or something.

Im glad we are getting more American fast food places. Carl's Jr and Popeyes. If Calgary could get a Qdoba Mexican Grill I'd be ecstatic!!!!!!

Pretty much agree with most of the others. Popeye's and Church's is good. I remember KFC being good back in the day, but it tasted like a fat clown's ass the last time I had it. Maybe it's because they had to stop pumping them full of stuff.
If you are ever at southern food restaurant, I suggest trying the non-fast food variety. It will change the way you think of fried chicken.

Any chance you're referring to Pine State Biscuits in Portland?

Probably not, all I can remember is that noise-core music was playing, every girl had their nose pierced like a bull, it looked like a victorian flea marked puked all over the walls, the waiters were heavily tattooed and non of them weighed more than 100 lbs.
Could have been anywhere in Portland, really.

i personally hated chicken on the way. i found it to be really bland and preferred KFC over chicken on the way.
wow chicken is the bomb though. the problem with korean fried chicken is it's hella expensive, but definitely better in taste and quality than the fast food joints.

Church's used to be in Calgary in the 80's then pulled out. Shame because it's far superior to KFC and Chicken on the Way which is the Peter's Drive In of fried chicken. It is popular because it's an old established local business but the actual food is extremely mediocre.

First few times I went to Chicken on the Way it was amazing. Then for some reason they stopped seasoning their chicken. Very bland now

Corn fritters at chicken on the way are fantastic after a drunken Flames game.
