Flames have no room to absorb cap either and would have to move cap to sign Cirelli and Bennett won't save the Lightning much cap either.

Gave up way too much for a soft winger who disappears in the playoffs.
Monahan isn't a #1 center, not what this team needs. Awful return for Johnny.

Ok their is just no way that a non elite Third line center is going to get traded for a non elite winger who isn’t going to stand up to nhl defence men without a joe colborne level prospect going one way and the obligatory 4 th going the other.

The Athletic projects the Flames to be the NHL’s 16th best team in 2023-24. So, they are saying the Flames will be what they’ve been for a long time: mediocre. I have to say that I agree. I don’t think the future of this team is anything but middle of the pack.
Why did this past rebuild fall flat?
I think the answer is the team began trading too many high draft picks too quickly. The rebuild failed due to a lack of patience.

Well, to be fair, it’s not as though we are rounding the corner on the first quarter of the season. Legitimate hockey news has been down to a trickle for the past 4-6 weeks. Not much content out there to react to.

Not a chance Columbus would trade Dubois. He is their most untouchable player IMO. The conversation would be Tkachuk for Dubois, and I don't think either team would see a need for that.

I would agree for the most part. However, I believe Dubois is still unsigned so maybe those talks go sideways..
